The Canadian Police Mission – Ukraine is a three year project in Ukraine that commenced in 2016. The objectives of Canada’s bilateral mission are to support Ukraine’s police reform efforts; build the capacity and effectiveness of Ukraine’s police services including developing specialized areas of expertise; and increase awareness of gender and human rights considerations.

Summary of Duties

Under the general direction of the Administrative and Logistics Manager, the Administrative Assistant will be providing secretarial, administrative and support services to the general CPMU staff. The incumbent will ensure arrangements and scheduling of appropriate and cost-effective travel, transportation, accommodation, meetings, interpretation and other services are provided to the CPMU.  As well, the incumbent will manage and report on a cash float, maintain general contact lists and administrative files.  Be a professional team player, who has above average organizational and communication skills to facilitate the smooth running of an office environment, and who possesses a proactive approach to helping ensure the smooth functioning of the Canadian Police Mission in Ukraine.

Requirements are:

  • Be registered (willing to be registered) in Ukraine as a private entrepreneur
  • Be able to communicate in English, Ukrainian and Russian (high intermediate to advanced English)
  • Be proficient in keyboarding. Blind typing is an asset.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting is an asset
  • Possess working knowledge of the operation of office equipment (printers, computers, etc.)
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc). Working knowledge of Google Drive is an asset.

The Administrative Assistant will be hired in early April 2018 and will serve as a core member of the project team based in Kyiv, Ukraine.

The knowledge and skills required by the position are usually acquired through secondary school graduation and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in related areas of administration.
