Duty Station: Donetsk, Ukraine

Type of Appointment: 6 months with possibility of extension

Core Functions / Responsibilities:Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Emergency and Stabilization Programme Coordinator, and under the direct supervision of the Emergency Coordinator and the technical supervision of the Communications Officer, the incumbent will work to provide overall programme support to the IOM team in the non-government-control areas (NGCA) of Ukraine, specifically in relation to communications and reporting.
- Provide support to the IOM programming in the NGCA, by developing informative documents meant to facilitate project implementation and communications with the relevant project counterparts.
- Assist in developing regular and ad hoc project reports for the Head Office, IOM Regional Office, IOM Headquarters, donors and other counterparts, as required.
- Support the development of a strong monitoring and evaluation workplan for IOM activities implemented in the NGCA and contribute to the finalization of post-distribution monitoring and other monitoring and evaluation-related documents.
- Provide support in drafting articles, briefs and ad hoc documents.
- In coordination with supervisor maintain and update the Mission’s online and social media resources, ensuring sustainable and timely dissemination of the Mission’s key messages.
- Assist in liaising with communications/reporting representatives of IPs and other humanitarian actors in the NGCA of Ukraine, as well as local counterparts, as relevant.
- Collect high quality photo and video materials on the wide range of the Mission activities.
- Assist the IOM Ukraine Communications focal point group and other Mission-level bodies in work related to Communications and Outreach.
- Draft and edit the country office’s and individual programmes’/projects’ periodic/circular promotional, visibility, analytical, and administrative publications, products and materials.
- Provide support with the printing and production of all promotional materials and related items with printing companies/service providers.
- Prepare daily and ad hoc media review of topics relevant to IOM’s operational in the local context.
- Provide informal translation of various documents and materials, as necessary from/to English, Ukrainian and Russian.

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- High school degree with at least 4 years of professional work experience
OR
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from accredited institutions (preferably in communications, journalism, media studies, social or cultural sciences) with at least 2 years of professional work experience.
Experience
- Experience in writing reports and articles.
- Good analytical skills and ability to work with large amounts of information.
- Advanced PC knowledge, acquaintance with data visualization tools and/or graphic design skills will be a plus.
- Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Experience in written translation and interpretation.
Languages
Fluency in English, Ukrainian and Russian is required.
