Summary of America House Program: 

Through the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, IREX administers the America House, a welcoming, dynamic space that fosters discussion and debate, provides opportunities for professional and personal skill building, and sparks creativity and collaboration around shared Ukrainian and U.S. values. The America House offers not only a physical space, but also a virtual hub, which facilitates access to balanced resources and information. Peer-to-peer cultural exchanges, discussions and learning at the America House provide visitors with a seat in “America’s living room.” 

Position Summary: 

The Communications Assistant supports America House Communications Manager and Coordinator in planning, developing, and implementing communication and public outreach strategies and programs for America House Kyiv. The Communications Assistant is responsible for drafting America House communication materials, compiling weekly newsletter and other mass e-mailings, assisting with America House presence on social networking sites. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

Description of Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in planning, developing and implementing public outreach strategies for America House;   
  • Research rapidly changing social media techniques, platforms, and trends and supporting new social media development;  
  • Assist with promotional and outreach activities; 
  • Draft creative content;  
  • Interact with social media audiences and monitor conversations/comments;  
  • Assist with America House presence on social networking sites including Facebook, Instagram, and other similar community sites; 
  • Draft press releases, post-releases, and communication documents for outside media;  
  • Update information on the America House website;  
  • Draft America House communication materials; 
  • Assist with design and purchasing America House swag items; 
  • Translate communication materials into English and Ukrainian/Russian;  
  • Compile weekly newsletter and other mass e-mailings; 
  • Design visuals for America House and partners programs; 
  • Assisting with developing and implementing America House website’s English Language resources content in cooperation with English Language Resident; 
  • Other duties as assigned.   

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree;  
  • Excellent English, Ukrainian and Russian; 
  • Experience managing social media presence for organizations or companies; 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; 
  • Must be skilled at handling multiple tasks and able to adhere to tight deadlines; 
  • Strong intercultural and communications skills; 
  • Experience working with Photoshop, Illustrator, and other related graphic media applications software.
