Since 1987, IFES has worked in over 145 countries, from developing democracies to mature democracies.
Since 1994, IFES has played a significant role in promoting electoral, administrative and legal reform in Ukraine. In cooperation with partners in Ukrainian civil society and the Central Election Commission (CEC), IFES is working to foster dialogue on electoral reform, build the capacity of local NGOs, institutionalize best practices in training election officials, and ensure more equal representation in the electoral process for disadvantaged populations, especially women, representatives of national minorities and persons with disabilities.
IFES is seeking applications to fill in the position of Project Assistant. As a member of the Civic Education program team of IFES Ukraine, the Project Assistant will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the IFES’ civic education courses for universities, vocational schools, and a broader youth audience. Under the supervision of the Project Officer, the Project Assistant responsibilities will include:
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support logistics, event preparation, monitoring, and implementation of offline and digital activities under the Civic Education portfolio.
- Edit, format, and contribute to IFES reports, including informational emails, operational reports, publication materials, donor reporting, presentations, and other reports.
- Contribute to evaluating and analyzing survey results.
- Contribute to developing interactive learning methodologies and revision of civic education courses materials.
- Developing and maintaining good relationships with stakeholders and partners.
- Maintain project records and documents.
- Conduct reviews and edits on writings, comments, and reports produced in-house.
- Сoordinate the involved vendors and consultants to ensure the timely receiving of the deliverables under their contracting obligations.
- Contribute to preparing project-related informational materials.
- Contribute to researching modern multi-media interfaces, design references, and educational materials.
- Plan and expedite travel and accommodation arrangements for IFES programming throughout Ukraine.
- Attend meetings at the request of the supervisor and take meeting minutes.
- Prepare and assemble briefing materials as directed.
- Translate written documents and provide verbal interpretation for staff as required.
- Travel throughout Ukraine to conduct and oversee the regional program activities as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS and SPECIFICATIONS
- The ability to remain organized while handling multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Strong research skills.
- Understanding of content designs, instructional design, and modern multi-media learning.
- Ability to complete tasks with supervision.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to adhere to all principles of confidentiality.
- Must value operating in a collaborative and cooperative environment.
- Ability to show initiative, good judgment, and resourcefulness.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, sociology, public administration or other relevant field required.
- Prior experience organizing events and logistics preferred.
- Keen interest in democracy processes and civic education.
- Interest in the development of high-quality interactive educational products and content.
- Experience in volunteering preferred.
- Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Fluency in written and spoken English and Ukrainian languages required.
TRAVEL: Travel may be required.
This position is based in Kyiv and the incumbent will be expected to work on-site.
