Chemonics International, a global consulting and international development firm, seeks a Market Development and Sales Specialist, long-term position, for the USAID Competitive Economy Program (CEP). The USAID Competitive Economy Program (CEP) is a seven year, $170M program, which promotes a strong, diverse, and open economy by enhancing the business environment for Ukrainian enterprises, improving the competitiveness of emerging and high-growth industries and their firms in international markets and equipping the Ukrainian workforce with skills necessary for reconstruction and rebuilding the economy.
The Market Development and Sales Specialist (Specialist) will be responsible for developing and implementing effective marketing and sales strategies to increase SMEs’ domestic and international sales, create significant number of new jobs as well as develop new cross-sector production opportunities and attracting new investments via providing grants, expert and other support in cooperation with governmental stakeholders, business support organizations (BSOs) and profiled exerts.
The Specialist’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Identify key SMEs’ needs and gaps for markets’ development and increasing sales in cooperation with CEP team, BSOs and SMEs.
- Develop and implement strategies for SMEs’ markets’ development in the identified sectors.
- Identify key SMEs’ equipment and services needed to increase sales and create new jobs on a sectorial basis.
- Provide support for SMEs’ in increasing sales and creating new jobs through grants implementation as well as other direct gods’ and services’ delivering.
- Map potential CEP’s grantees/other support recipients and facilitate CEP’s work with such recipients.
- Participate as a member of the grants evaluation committee, act as tech lead in grant pre-award, implementation and post-closure stages, demonstrating proven leadership when evaluating, supervising and finalizing respective initiatives.
- Assist to utilize the network of subcontractors and grantees to match up producers who have products which are ready for sale or who are willing to produce goods and services to buyer requirements.
- Conduct financial feasibility analyses to determine potentially available sales margins at the SMEs’ gate and wholesale levels.
- Link large-scale producers, traders and value adders to CEP training and technical assistance to increase the value of their products from production facilities to wholesale markets through improved business processes and transportation services.
- Facilitate public-private dialogue and cooperation with BSOs to increase businesses’ sales and create new jobs.
- Provide cooperation with relevant governmental stakeholders and BSOs to facilitate implementation regulatory and other activities necessary for businesses’ increasing sales and creating new jobs.
- Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief of Party, Chief of Party, or their designees.
The required and/or preferred qualifications for the Specialist position are:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or related field required. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum five years of progressively responsible related experience in sales and marketing and business management and or economics.
- Familiarity with USAID-funded projects or prior international donor experience preferred.
- Working proficiency in basic office computer applications, including MS Word and Excel required.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and work in fast-paced environments required.
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
- Proficiency in English and Ukrainian required.
