Position Summary

In support of the USAID-funded Strengthening Rehab Services and Health Systems (SRSHS) project, Momentum Wheels for Humanity (MWH) seeks a Clinical Education Coordinator. The activities of this position are related to coordination, organization, supervision, expansion/development, administration, planning, communication, cooperation with authorized a person from base practice and clinical supervisors (physical therapists), and preparation and conduct of clinical education in physical therapy for students on the basis of practices. Also, the Clinical Education Coordinator will closely cooperate with the Clinical Education Coordinator Lead and international and Ukrainian consultants who will support the implementation of project activities. For this position will be higher one person from each city – Lviv, Ternopil, Lutsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kyiv. Only candidates who have a work permit in Ukraine will be considered; relocation benefits will not be granted.

Project Description

Led by Momentum Wheels for Humanity (Momentum) and supported by the Ukrainian Association of Physical Therapy (UAPT), the Ukrainian National Assembly of People with Disabilities (NAPD), the Group of Active Rehabilitation (GAR), the Kharkiv Research Institute for Prosthetics and Orthotics (Kharkiv P&O Institute) and Human Study the Strengthening Rehabilitation Services in Health Systems (SRSHS) project will continue to strengthen rehabilitation service delivery systems and build workforce capacity in Ukraine. Also, the project will contribute to improving the education of physical therapists by helping universities implement the educational standard that was adopted on September 5, 2022.

Expected Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Ukraine Country Director and Clinical Education Coordinator Lead, the Clinical Education Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:

  • Organize and provide clinical education on the basis of practices according to legislative, ethical, and practical professional instructions
  • Establish and maintain communication with an authorized person from the practice base during clinical education 
  • To conclude a contract on cooperation between higher education institutions and practice bases
  • Establish goals of clinical practice and predicted outcomes of clinical education on the basis of practices  
  • Provide guidance to clinical supervisors regarding the expected level of assimilation of students’ clinical education outcomes
  • Communicate with students regarding the establishment and achievement of expected levels of clinical education outcomes 
  • Communicate with clinical supervisors regarding academic program performance and achievement of expected clinical education outcomes
  • Prepare documentation and monitor its management during clinical education
  • To process the general results of clinical education
  • Resolve conflict situations during clinical education
  • Participate in curriculum development for the clinical component of the educational program
  • Participate in educational events/training organized by Momentum Wheels for Humanity (Momentum)
  • Facilitate the implementation of a clinical education manual developed by an international consultant.
  • Contribute to the creation or strengthening of pre-clinical practice cabinet
  • Cooperate with international and Ukrainian consultants to improve clinical education
  • Participate in the implementation and facilitate different Momentum activities in the field of education
  • Provide inputs to monthly, quarterly, and/or ad hoc donor and internal reports, ensuring that reporting is accurate and timely
  • Attend coordination meetings that are relevant to clinical education activities and MWH staff
  • Attend or represent MWH as needed in meetings with healthcare providers as needed
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of MWH

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in the rehabilitation field, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, or master’s degree in health policy, global health, or health system and/or in the relevant field of study
  • At least five years of clinical or educational practice as a rehabilitation specialist
  • Experience, general awareness, and understanding of physical therapy education
  • Experience, general awareness, and understanding of the evidence-based practice
  • Excellent analytical skills and reporting skills
  • Ability to set clear goals and manage progress toward them
  • Ability to work well independently and with a team
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with good organization and prioritization skills
  • Written and spoken fluency in Ukrainian.
