Global Communities’ response is designed with the goal of saving lives, reducing suffering, and addressing urgent needs while supporting communities to lead their own response and prepare for recovery.
Job Summary:
The Communications Officer will support Global Communities and its partners in clearly communicating the assistance provided across existing programming and ensuring broad outreach of program messages among target audiences. The Level of Effort is full-time. This position will be based in our head office in Kyiv, Ukraine, but will require traveling to field offices based on program activities (approximately 10% of overall work time).
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Communications Officer will be responsible for the following:
- Coordinating communications of partner civil society organizations (CSOs) to cover the program activities, monitor compliance with donor requirements and form a holistic perception of program activities by the public.
- Assist the program team in shaping communication manifestations and meeting communication requirements.
- Monitoring partner CSOs’ social media pages and local (regional) media outlets and preparing regular digests/reports.
- Assisting in drafting communication materials and messages and publishing them across program communication channels.
- Providing communication inputs to monthly reports and digests.
- Setting technical tasks and coordinating with service providers on communication/visibility materials development.
- Maintaining and organizing communication assets storage.
- Supporting the Communications Team in other program activities.
Working Relationships:
This position reports to the Communications and Reporting Manager.
Experience and Qualifications:
- A university degree in PR, marketing, journalism, publishing, or a related field. One year of relevant work experience may substitute for each year needed to complete the degree.
- A minimum of one year of experience in an NGO or private company in PR, media, content development/editing, or other communications-related positions.
- Previous work experience with humanitarian and/or international organizations is desirable but not required.
- Additional qualifications and skills in the communications field obtained via training/workshops/informal education are desirable.
Technical Skills:
- Excellent writing and editing skills Candidates are advised to demonstrate examples of content created when applying for the position.
- Copywriting/content development/journalistic skills will be an advantage.
- Fluent in Ukrainian, with a strong command of English.
- Interest in professional development in the communications area.
- Social media management, photo/video editing skills are desirable.
- Confident command of standard office software (e.g., Microsoft 365 services). Proficiency in specific software for content creation and publication will be an advantage.
