Consultant on the development of a training program Hygiene Promotion / Консультант(-ка) з розробки навчальної програми “Просування гігієни” (подовжено)

Global Communities is seeking an expert (consultant) with a strong background in informal adult education and a basic understanding of humanitarian hygiene education and awareness to create a training of trainers (ToT) curriculum and deliver four (4) one-day (1) training sessions for adult volunteers in the Ukrainian context. The curriculum and training aims to educate and raise awareness among our partner’s (civil society organizations) staff and volunteers on preventing waterborne and other infectious diseases and raise awareness and educate populations living in situations characterized by the infrequent supply of running water and electricity and limited access to sanitation facilities.

Scope of Work

The consultant will be responsible for the following:

A. Curriculum Development (up to 20 working days of LOE)
1. Develop comprehensive training materials, including:
a. Participants’ and trainer manuals on humanitarian hygiene education and awareness adapted to Ukrainian context.
b. Handouts and leaflets on hygiene awareness and promotion adapted to Ukrainian context.
c. PowerPoint presentations for ToT on humanitarian hygiene education and awareness adapted to Ukrainian context.

2. Ensure the curriculum covers the following topics:
a. Waterborne diseases.
b. Food and water safety in crisis situations.
c. Frequently touched surfaces cleaning and disinfection.
d. Coping with limited sanitation facilities, crowded spaces, and limited water supply.
e. Adult educational and teaching techniques and methods.

Develop the curriculum in Ukrainian and English. Maintain a professional but friendly and contextualized tone throughout the training materials.

B. Training Delivery (4 one-day sessions and 4 days of travel)
1. Deliver four (4) one-day (1) training sessions for adult audience.
2. Adapt the training methodology to the specific Ukrainian context, considering best practices from similar contexts, using the modern tools and approaches, techniques, formats etc.
3. Engage in regular consultations with local stakeholders, including the program technical team, to ensure the highest quality output.

The expert consultant should possess the following qualifications:
1. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public health, environmental health, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
2. At least three years of experience in informal adult education and familiarity with humanitarian hygiene education and awareness, particularly in conflict or crisis settings.
3. Proven experience in developing and delivering training of trainers (ToT) curricula.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for waterborne disease prevention, food and water safety, sanitation, and hygiene promotion in resource-limited settings.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including local program teams, government officials, and community members.
4. Proficiency in Ukrainian, languages. English language is an asset.
5. Experience working in Ukrainian context is a vital asset.

Proposal Submission
Interested consultants should submit a proposal that includes the following:
1. Cover letter highlighting relevant experience and expertise.
2. CV or resume demonstrating the required qualifications.
3. A brief outline of the proposed approach to developing the curriculum and delivering the training sessions.
4. A detailed work plan, including a timeline for completing the curriculum development and training delivery.
5. At least two (2) professional references from previous clients or organizations where similar work was conducted.
6. A financial proposal detailing the consultant’s daily rate and any other anticipated costs.

Reporting and Accountability
The consultant will report directly to the CLEAR SHELTER and WASH Technical Adviser and be accountable to the SHELTER\WASH technical team. The consultant is expected to provide regular progress updates, participate in meetings with the program team and stakeholders, and address any concerns or feedback promptly and professionally.

Intellectual Property and Confidentiality
All materials developed by the consultant, including but not limited to the curriculum, training materials, and training reports, will become the property of Global Communities. The consultant must respect and maintain the confidentiality of any sensitive information encountered during work.
