Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and Programme Manager (Livelihoods and EconDev) in Ukraine and the direct supervision of the National Project Officer (SME Boost), the successful candidate will contribute to implementation of IOM Ukraine economic recovery activities that focus, inter alia, on employment opportunities, Micro-, Small-, and Medium-Enterprises (MSMEs) support and diaspora engagement.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the planning, coordination, implementation, reporting and monitoring of Migration and Sustainable Development (MSD) projects activities.
- Support coordination of MSD project activities as assigned by the supervisor.
- Compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific MSD related topics, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.
- Coordinate with Resource Management Unit as required for effective project implementation, to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, and ensure that the MSD project processes are run in line with IOM guidance and procedures, etc.
- Draft status reports; identify shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest corrective measures.
- Draft correspondence on MSD-related issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation.
- Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops.
- Respond timely and/or coordinate the response with relevant colleagues and organizational units to complex information requests and inquiries; present MSD work to external partners.
- Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
- Support coordination of beneficiaries, consultants and implementing partners (IPs) selection and contracting processes, monitor work of contracted parties and report any non-compliance to the supervisor.
- Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers and provide general support for the development of new projects.
- Provides guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring work of other staff in the unit; supervise other staff as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- High school diploma with six years of relevant experience; OR,
- Bachelor’s Degree in Political or Social Sciences, Economics, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
- Understanding and ability to clearly communicate about key areas in labour migration and economic development, knowledge of the context in Ukraine is desirable.
- Experience in working with MSMEs, Ukrainian government and civil society is an asset.
Skills
- Good knowledge of the migration and sustainable development related subject areas dealt with by the Organization;
- Excellent planning, organization and coordination skills;
- Proven drafting, writing, and reporting skills, confident user of the Microsoft Office Suite.
Languages
Fluency in English and Ukrainian is required (oral and written).
