Since the start of the large-scale military invasion of Russia to Ukraine in February 2022, UNFPA implements a comprehensive nationwide Humanitarian Response Plan to provide lifesaving GBV and SRH services to women and girls across Ukraine. Through its Gender-Based Violence in Emergency (GBViE) Programme, UNFPA contributes to improving protection and security of women and girls, and thus, their willingness to participate in community life, including in war-affected communities. Women’s engagement and empowerment in community dialogue, including in displacement, is essential for laying a strong foundation for recovery and sustainable peace and development.
UNFPA is seeking highly motivated candidates that share our passion of making a sound contribution to creating a Ukrainian society free from gender-based violence. We need strong professionals who are innovative, committed to excellence and keen to transform, inspire and deliver high impact and sustained results.
Requirements for candidates:
- 3 years of experience in journalism, communications, social media, public relations or similar role, at the national and/or international level;
- Excellent drafting, editing skills in Ukrainian and English;
- Excellent oral and written skills;
- Knowledge of different aspects of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to effective social media communication and engagement, as well as specific experience with social media management software such as Hootsuite, Buffer, Google Analytics, or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to address a range of issues in the context of political developments, public attitudes and local conditions, responding fast to emergency situations.
- Ability to conceptualize, design and implement major and complex social media strategies.
- Ability to rapidly analyse and integrate diverse information from varied sources.
- Ability to diplomatically handle sensitive situations with target audiences and cultivate productive relationships.
- Ability to produce a variety of written communications products in a clear, concise style.
- Takes responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives and ensuring the equal participation of women and men in all areas of work.
- Develops clear goals for social media reach that are consistent with agreed Communication and Country strategies;
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), design and photo editing applications (Canva, Photoshop, etc), and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
- Sound security awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Fluency in other UN language is an advantage

Bachelor degree or equivalent in a relevant area, e.g. communications, journalism, public relations, international relations, or a related field, Master’s degree is a plus.
- Work experience in UN or Humanitarian projects will be an advantage;
