Overview:

Project Description:
The purpose of the USAID Support for Trade, Recovery Opportunities, and National Growth in Ukraine (STRONG-UA) activity is to support Ukrainian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) at scale to: i) invest in their recovery and growth, ii) to develop new market linkages, iii) enhance their innovation and competitiveness, and iv) support a more conducive enabling environment to accelerate private sector growth during and after the war.
The overarching objective is a significant increase in employment and revenues in partner SMEs, resulting in broad economic growth and increased tax revenues.
Position Description:
The Grants Director will be responsible for management, implementation, and oversight of an $80m Grants Under Contract (GUC) Component issued under the USAID Support for Trade, Recovery Opportunities, and National Growth in Ukraine (STRONG-UA) Activity. IDG is searching for a candidate with extensive prior grants management experience, preferably on USAID funded projects in Ukraine. Please note that this position is contingent upon award of the proposal/USAID approval.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage, implement, and provide oversight to the GUC component, ensuring alignment with USAID regulations, IDG policies, and project objectives.
- Manage a large team of Grant Managers and Grant Specialists based in Kyiv and throughout Ukraine.
- Contribute to creating awareness of GUCs among potential recipients.
- Contribute to competitive grantee selection.
- Provide oversight of grants administration, ensuring grants are managed effectively, transparently, accurately, and in compliance with USAID requirements.
- Support the Activity’s technical implementation team in providing grant-related training and other support to grantees, as appropriate.
- Monitor financial management of grant funds for progress, alignment with the Activity objectives, and for compliance purposes.
- Serve as the primary contact for all grant related matters liaising with the IDG Home Office, USAID, and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, international development or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in grants management with significant experience in managing large-scale USAID grants.
- Experience managing large grants in post-conflict or transitional environments with strong preference for experience in Ukraine and/or Eurasia.
- Proven familiarity with United States Government regulations and a demonstrated ability to ensure compliance.
- Strong communications, analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral. Fluency in Ukrainian is required.
