Established in 1994, TGH (Triangle Generation Humanitaire) is a French international solidarity organization based in Lyon. The organization implements emergency, humanitarian, rehabilitation and development programs in WASH, Food Security and Livelihoods, Shelter/Rehabilitation, Education and Protection sectors. TGH currently operates in 10 countries in Africa, Asia, Middle East and Europe.
TGH applies a ‘zero tolerance’ policy with regard to all misconduct affecting the professional credibility of its employees: TGH staff; partners (local or international) and service providers.
TGH strongly condemns all corporal punishment or physical violence, threats of physical violence, sexual abuse or exploitation, harassment and verbal abuse, as well as all other forms of intimidation.
Presentation of the mission:
Operational in Ukraine since 2016 from Kramatorsk to support the most vulnerable populations affected by the conflict in the Donbass region, TGH wishes to continue and strengthen its intervention in Ukraine. In view of the current situation, part of the team has been forced to move to Lviv, a city that now hosts the entire humanitarian and diplomatic community, to ensure its safety. It is therefore from Lviv, located on the western border and still spared by the fighting, that TGH intends to propose an action to respond to the most urgent humanitarian needs.
ROLE PURPOSE:
Communications Manager will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure TGH’s response in Ukraine is effectively and accurately presented.
Communications Manager will be responsible for producing compelling communications materials such as case studies, infographics and photos, building TGH’s media profile in Ukraine, improving our communication with beneficiaries, ensuring donor visibility requirements are met.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Communications and information management:
- Support the Country Director with the implementation of media and communications strategy.
- Create effective communications content – such as case studies, photos, infographics, – for donors.
- Identify compelling and relevant stories in the field and organize content gathering trips to gather the resources.
- Create content for the Ukraine response’s social media accounts and website.
- Manage the production of key information management resources including Q&As and key messages.
- Lead on the implementation of the internal communications plan.
- Support the Country Director to facilitate visits to the field (including communications/media/video teams, visibility etc.)
- In coordination with the Country Director liaise directly with relevant donors and Comms staff on media and comms issues.
Media:
- Lead on the development and implementation of a national and local media strategy to raise the profile of TGH in Ukraine and improve our communication with beneficiaries.
- Produce media releases, speaking notes for spokespeople, Q&As and opinion pieces.
- Respond to local and national media requests and ensure journalists are provided with information in a timely manner.
- Identify and pitch positive stories about TGH’s work to local and national journalists.
- Support the Country Director to manage crisis communications as required.
- Monitor local and national media coverage about TGH’s work in Ukraine in coordination.
Other:
- Support the Country Director with the development and implementation of advocacy campaigns.
Additional job responsibilities :
- The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties assigned by the Country Director within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in social sciences (public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or information technology).
- At least five years’ experience working in information, communications and media.
- Previous experience working in a non-profit organization.
- University education in a relevant subject or equivalent field experience.
- Ability to deliver high-quality communications content, including photographs and case studies.
- Experience developing and implementing media and communications strategies.
- Experience managing media requests and using the media to increase the profile of an organization.
- Understanding about how to effectively communicate with beneficiaries.
- Excellent understanding of what media and communications content TGH requires fundraising and advocating effectively.
- Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both English, Russian and Ukrainian for a wide range of different audiences including donors, journalists and the general public.
- Experience developing media and communications products in a politically and culturally sensitive manner
- The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working environments.
- Experience of delivering training, presentations and other capacity building activities for different audiences.
- Excellent IT skills, especially in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent relationship building skills and strong influencing skills.
- Excellent speaking and writing skills in English
Desirable
- Experience as a media spokesperson.
- Photoshop or other design software skills.
- Management experience.
