Since 1994, IFES has played a significant role in promoting electoral, administrative and legal reform in Ukraine. In cooperation with partners in Ukrainian civil society and the Central Election Commission (CEC), IFES is working to foster dialogue on electoral reform, build the capacity of local NGOs, institutionalize best practices in training election officials and ensure more equal representation in the electoral process for disadvantaged populations, especially women, representatives of national minorities and persons with disabilities.
IFES is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project Manager.
The Project Manager will design and implement activities within the Political and Electoral Rights section under the supervision of the IFES Head of Programs.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead on design and implementation of activities that may include a range of issues, such as legal reform, strengthening internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable groups’ political awareness and participation, civil society and media’s engagement in electoral processes and reform, strengthening civil society’s advocacy skills, developing public awareness campaigns on electoral reform, voter education initiatives, and other activities;
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with government and non-government stakeholders, identify new partnership opportunities;
- Lead efforts to plan and organize events, workshops, trainings, etc. as necessary in support of civil society-focused activities;
- Provide oversight over relevant sub-award recipients, maintaining relationships and monitoring their activities and results;
- Represent IFES in discussions with government and civil society partners;
- Develop documents for external communications, annual workplans, operational reports, project proposals, and correspondence in both English and Ukrainian;
- Develop ideas for new programmatic interventions and design, in collaboration with the program management team;
- Contribute to regular programmatic reports to donors and IFES HQ;
- Contribute regularly to monitoring & evaluation data collection;
- Provide clear instructions, oversee the activities and monitor the performance of staff under his/her direct supervision.

- The ability to remain highly organized while handling multiple tasks under tight deadlines;

- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Ability to show initiative, good judgment, and resourcefulness;
- Conduct himself/herself with integrity and function ethically.
EDUCATION and QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field, Master’s degree preferred;
- Minimum of eight years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or minimum six years of relevant work experience with a Master’s degree;
- Demonstrated professional experience and knowledge in the thematic area of political and electoral rights and civil society engagement;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Proficiency in Word, Power Point, Outlook and Excel;
- Prior experience in managing staff is desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Fluency in English and Ukrainian languages is required.
TRAVEL: Travel may be required.
This position is based in Kyiv and the incumbent will be expected to work on-site.
