Location: Kyiv, Ukraine
Period: April 30 – December 31, 2019 (with the possibility of an extension)
Salary: Hourly/Daily (TBD on work experience)
Level of Effort: 22 days part-time
Background
IMS is searching for a dynamic and experienced Ukrainian Social Media/Mobile Video Trainer to provide Ukrainian youth organizations with a basic social media management and mobile video skills training. Building off of IMS’ previous youth work, the workshop will build the participants skills in creating infographics, data visualizations, and short videos to be used on their social media feeds (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube). The result of the two-day long trainings will be a comprehensive communications plan that will build their followers and expand their audience.
This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience working with an international team on the USAID funded Support to Anti-Corruption Champion Institutions (SACCI) Program. The position is part-time, mainly weekends, and requires domestic travel on a regular basis.
Duties and Responsibilities: With input and oversight from IMS’ Technical Director, the Social Media/Mobile Video Trainer will:
- Adapt IMS’ two-day mobile journalism workshop to be applicable to Ukrainian youth, anti-corruption focused NGOs, citizen journalists, and community leaders. The trainer will research Ukrainian case studies and incorporate them into the tutorials and hands-on sessions. Ideally each workshop will have no more than a dozen participants. Building on previous IMS trainings, the workshop(s) emphasize practical social media skills needed and best practices especially when presenting potentially sensitive information. The training is designed so it can be repeated multiple times depending on demand or geographic limitations.
- Train participants in Ukrainian how to use their smartphone to produce multimedia content (data visualizations, infographics, photo essays and short videos) to effectively engage their audiences on social media.
- Educate participants in best practices to manage, measure and analyze their audience and impact.
- Provide input on a series of interactive e-training modules with guidance from the Government Communications Specialist for SACCI staff, government officials and aspiring public figures on YouTube for those crafting sensitive communications centered on anti-corruption initiatives.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A university degree in Social Media Management, Mass Communications, Film, Marketing/Advertising or related field;
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in social media management, multimedia storytelling, documentary film, marketing, and/or advertising (mobile video experience a plus);
- Video editing software experience including mobile apps;
- Knowledge of various communications strategies and community outreach methods;
- Ability to present new and creative communications ideas or outreach strategies for different audiences and stages of the project;
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in team settings;
- Ukrainian and English fluency required.
