Role’s Purpose:
As a Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for all media and public relations of CyberInnovate, including development and implementation of the CyberInnovate’s communication strategy, managing the creation of different types of content for inner and external purposes and organizing its dissemination. You also will contribute and support activities within the Project “SEEDS OF BRAVERY: Supporting Ukraine’s Tech Start-up Scene and Bringing it Closer to the EU” (UASEEDs) providing Communications Strategy & Dissemination Plan implementation and other CyberInnovate-related tasks. In UASEEDs project the Communications Manager will be responsible for the media promotion of project activities and will work with start-ups, project partners, government institutions and other stakeholders. The Communications Manager will contribute to the UASEEDs activities planning, design and reporting.
Tasks / Responsibilities:
The Communications Specialist will be responsible for the following key areas and related tasks:
- Manage CyberInnovate’s strategic and project-related communications.
- Develop and implement CyberInnovate’s communication strategy.
- Work with CyberInnovate projects implementation teams to identify cross-cutting themes and activities to highlight through communication channels (social media, website, external platforms/publications).
- Develop key narratives on CyberInnovate mission and activities and package them into content for various target groups using selected media outlets and platforms.
- Organize and manage content creation including articles, stories, press releases, op-eds and other text and video content that conveys CyberInnovate’s messaging and narratives, engaging in-house subject matter experts and external service providers.
- Create opportunities for CyberInnovate experts and key stakeholders to engage with the media and the public, such as pitching story ideas, organizing press events, setting up interviews, etc.
- Handle incoming media requests, in cooperation with technical experts and CyberInnovate leadership.
- Maintain and develop the pool of CyberInnovate spokespersons and experts.
- Liaise with reporters, influencers, media NGOs and partner organizations to develop productive relationships and effect change.
- Provide input into UASEEDs tasks on communication, dissemination, and outreach. This task covers the recruitment and involvement of innovation stakeholders in the project ecosystem, as well as the media, promotion, and communication activities of the project.
- Identify key accomplishments, learning opportunities, and findings of project activities and deliverables to highlight through communications channels and products to increase the accessibility and utilization of project information.
- Participate in writing, production, or editing of project materials including reports, fact sheets, PowerPoint presentations, and success stories related to project activities and accomplishments.
- Facilitate the production of or take the lead in developing customized products such as data visualizations and infographics, videos, and other communication products related to project activities and anti-corruption reform.
- Contribute to monitoring and reporting on achieved results and reached targets.
- Coordinate external communications, including developing and disseminating clear, high-quality content through proper communication channels.
- Prepare and publish news and analytical content for UASEEDs information resources.
- Manage communications with media, including developing media plans, press releases, public statements, and announcements.
Qualifications and Competences:
- Deep understanding of all processes related to this position, experience in planning, organization, and implementation of projects.
- Ability to plan and organize activities and tasks implementation qualitatively, attracting the necessary resources.
- Deep understanding, exquisite taste, and passion to PR and Communication, modern styles and trends, components of PR, planning and implementation of communication programs and projects, and understanding target audiences.
- Communication Skills: Highly professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner to diverse audiences.
- At least 2 years of professional experience with communications and media relations, including experience in conducting strategic communications activities on the issues of deep tech, startups, digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and innovations.
- Advanced degree in public relations, communications, public policy, journalism, media management, or a related field.
- Experience working with governmental and civil society institutions in developing and implementing effective and innovative communication activities.
- Experience developing and maintaining social media tools (Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Prior experience with EU-funded or other international organization projects and familiarity with EU communications policies is an asset.
- Highly motivated, energetic, independent and a self-starter.
- Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment characterized by ambiguity, uncertainty, and rapid change.
- Collaborative Spirit: Proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of teamwork, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
- Fluency in English and Ukrainian.
- Strong ethics, well-balanced and mature personality, and positive attitude to the job.
- Strong organizational skills, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
