CyberInnovate, a consortium member implementing the Seeds of Bravery Project (UASEEDs), is looking for a Startup Matchmaking Officer. CyberInnovate is a venture-building and entrepreneurship development studio with a mission to help entrepreneurs and start-ups build a secure digital future.

CyberInnovate as a consortium member is implementing the Project “SEEDS OF BRAVERY: Supporting Ukraine’s Tech Start-up Scene and Bringing it Closer to the EU” (UASEEDs). UASEEDs is funded by the European Union under the European Innovation Council (EIC) within the Horizon Europe Framework Programme. UASEEDs aimed at providing support to counteract the harm done to Ukrainian startups and deep tech SMEs in the short term, building a framework that supports the Ukrainian Government’s goal of becoming a ‘start-up nation’, and increasing the role of innovators and the deep tech industry in driving growth. The UASEEDs is powered by a network of 17 partners and 2 associated partners, integrating Ukrainian tech innovators in European markets.

Role’s Purpose:

A Startup Matchmaking Officer is responsible for connecting startups with potential investors, mentors, partners, or other relevant stakeholders. This role involves understanding the unique needs of both startups and external collaborators to facilitate mutually beneficial relationships. The Startup Matchmaking Officer acts as a bridge to foster collaboration, investment, and growth opportunities within the startup ecosystem. This role is crucial for startups looking to scale and for partners seeking high-potential businesses to collaborate with or invest in. The Startup Matchmaking Officer helps drive innovation by bringing the right people together.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead CyberInnovate activities within UASEEDs Work package Pan-European Integration (EU –UA Gateway, task Matchmaking activities).
  2. Conduct startups’ needs assessment: understand the specific needs, growth stage, and objectives of startups. Evaluate startups to determine their funding, mentorship, or partnership needs.
  3. Review start-up`s individual follow up plan and onboarding into matchmaking activities, identification of needs for matchmaking.
  4. Onboarding the start-ups into matchmaking Infrastructure (specific matchmaking platforms provided in UASEEDs).
  5. Facilitate matchmaking interactions by introducing the startups to the relevant stakeholders identified on the appropriate platforms (corporates, investors, or government agencies) and review matchmaking activities with startups later.
  6. Coordinate startups’ participation in industry events and conferences, and start-up competitions.
  7. Provide administrative support in organizational efforts to implement the assigned tasks, including: planning meetings following UASEEDs project timeline, establishing contacts with UASEEDs partners.
  8. Provide input to other CyberInnovate related tasks in UASEEDs.
  9. Develop, monitor, and report on deliverables, results, and indicators.
  10. Hold regular weekly management check-in meetings with the CyberInnovate experts and relevant project team members involved in relevant tasks implementation and events. 

Qualifications:

  • A degree in business, entrepreneurship, marketing, economics or a related field.
  • Fluency in English and Ukrainian.
  • Previous experience in a startup, venture capital, or business development role is an advantage.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of the startup ecosystem, including trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in event planning or coordination.
  • Familiarity with investor relations and fundraising processes.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and adaptability.
