Competitive Economy Program

Chemonics International, a global consulting and international development firm, seeks a translator/interpreter for the USAID-funded Competitive Economy Program. This five-year program encourages startup businesses and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), increases domestic market competition, and supports the competitiveness of Ukrainian firms in international markets. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

 The translator/interpreter will support the program’s translation needs, including written translation of administrative and technical documents; serving as a facilitator and interpreter for meetings between program staff, international experts, and project counterparts; proofreading documents produced in English or Ukrainian by project staff; occasionally traveling to provide interpretation services for meetings with beneficiaries and stakeholders; and other duties as required.

 The translator/interpreter should have the following experience and qualifications:

 Professional fluency in English and Ukrainian required.

• University degree in English translation preferred.
• Ability to provide high-quality consecutive and simultaneous interpretation. 
• Previous experience translating technical documents.
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation in handling all assigned tasks. 
• Previous USAID or other international donor experience preferred. 
• Ability to travel with project staff to provide interpretation services for meetings.
• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
