Job Summary

This is a part-time (75% business), temporary (six-month) position based in Kyiv, Ukraine. There is a possibility that this position may be extended beyond six months and be transferred into full-time module.

ABA ROLI is looking to hire a local Ukrainian expert to serve as a Project Manager to help support multiple programs funded by the United States Department of State. These programs work to address the advancement of fundamental freedoms, human rights and social cohesion, including one which strengthens the knowledge and capacity of cross-sector internet freedom champions to advocate for laws and policies that promote online freedom of expression, and another which is designed to increase national unity, promote civic identity, and foster informed and constructive dialogue on issues central to the country’s European future.

Reporting to the Country Director, the Project Manager will help implement and administer programming aimed at civil society organizations, rights advocates and the Government of Ukraine. He/she may also have the opportunity to contribute towards the design of grant proposals on topical areas of interest through research, writing and liaising with relevant stakeholders.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence of program activities to the ABA’s articulated program strategy.
  • Aid in the implementation and administration of relevant programmatic activities, in collaboration with ABA colleagues, partner organizations and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to small grant recipient organizations.
  • Use Monitoring & Evaluation tools and processes to assess and report on the status and efficacy of program initiatives.
  • Contribute to quarterly and final programmatic reports on the activities implemented.
  • Conduct monitoring and analysis of relevant legislative, political, social and other developments.
  • Contribute towards the successful development of grant proposals on topical areas of interest through research, writing and liaising with relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties and activities as required by the Country Director for successful implementation of the programs and proposals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written English language communication skills required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in international project implementation, preferably with USG-funded programs, or small grants programs.
  • Minimum of two (2) years professional experience in political transition, human rights advocacy, social cohesion, protection and support to vulnerable groups or with justice programming.
  • Experience in capacity of the team lead or component coordinator in the international technical assistance projects
  • Relevant experience working with NGOs, grassroots organizations, and/or local communities.
  • Relevant experience working with government institutions as beneficiaries and recipients of the international technical assistance projects
  • Undergraduate degree (or higher) with minimum of two (2) years of experience showing increased responsibility in the areas of law, political science, social sciences, psychology, or other relevant fields.
  • Ability to work under difficult conditions while maintaining security awareness.
