JOB DESCRIPTION
- Role: The organisation is now seeking to recruit one suitable qualified staff for the position of Protection Specialist
- Department: Programme
- Duty Station: Poltava (visits to Kharkiv, Dnipro)
- Remuneration Package: Basic Pay + Monthly Health Benefit
Aim of the position: Under the supervision of the Program Manager, to contribute to the implementation of Protection and PSS activities targeting displaced persons and host communities.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Identification and set-up of a Child Friendly Spaces (CFS), including space management SOPs
- Coordination of activities of mental health support for staff and volunteers
- Coordination of the activities of the PSS staff and the related activities on the field
- Supporting the field staff in activities of outreach and case management
- Screening for vulnerabilities and assessment/monitoring of the needs of the targeted population
- Provision of MHPSS services (psychosocial first aid, individual and group support)
- Information and awareness on protection risks
- Training of local partners and stakeholders on protection approaches and safeguarding
- Conduct CP-PSS technical support needs assessment for staff and partner organizations
- Contribute to the development and consolidation of the strategy of intervention of AVSI in the context of the Ukrainian crisis, designing the activities related to PSS component
- Identify objectives in the psycho-social field with a view to community empowerment
- Ensure psychosocial support is appropriately reflected in the programme documents, when requested
Essential Requirements:
- Degree and professional qualification in relevant sectors
Work Experience:
Minimum 3 years working experience in protection and PSS project implementation
Required skills and experiences:
Hard skills:
Excellent organizational skill functional to perform under minimal supervision
Willingness to work under tight schedules
Aptitude to field work with ability to travel with short notice
Knowledge of child protection and psychosocial intervention programs within the humanitarian and development sector
Knowledge of humanitarian standards (CHS, Sphere, MSCP, Code of Conduct, CPiE, IASC MHPSS, IASC Case Management, etc.)
Ability to carry out community assessment with standardized and non-standardized instruments, with particular attention to the ability to carry out adequate assessment of the context and psycho-social needs of affected communities
Ability to perform clinical-diagnostic, individual and community interpretations
Knowledge and competence in the use of tools for the prevention and treatment of acute stress, adjustment and post-traumatic stress disorders
Identification of objectives in the psycho-social field with a view to community empowerment, contextual analysis, feasibility study and risk analysis, identification and creation of organizational structures, identification-assessment-selection of any necessary human resources
