Competitive Economy Program

Chemonics International, a global consulting and international development firm, seeks Business Advisors for the USAID-funded Competitive Economy Program. This five-year program will encourage startup businesses and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), increase domestic market competition, and support the competitiveness of Ukrainian firms in international markets. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

The Business Advisor position will provide direct technical assistance to SMEs supported by the program by leveraging practical experience gained while working in the private sector. Assistance may include, but is not limited to, evaluating company operations and diagnosing weak points; advising businesses on strategy and growth plans; identifying needs for additional niche expertise; and supporting the identification and development of networking opportunities.

Business Advisors should have the following experience and qualifications:

• At least five years of relevant professional experience, including experience working for a business advisory services organization or donor project focused on SME development. Exposure to a wide range of SME manufacturing and service industries, and prior experience working with groups of SMEs and business associations is preferred.
• Excellent people, networking and communications skills, with proven ability to interact with entrepreneurs and business managers in areas relating to the assignment.
• Demonstrated ability to write clear reports and present them verbally. Good training skills and a successful track record in delivery of trainings is an advantage.
• Computer proficiency required, with experience in the use of worksheets for analysis and presentation tools.
• University degree in business or other relevant field.
• Willingness/ability to travel throughout Ukraine for extended periods, as needed, to deliver on the assignment.
• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
• Excellent written and spoken English, Ukrainian, and Russian.
