General overview of the position
The National Democratic Institute (NDI) seeks a Senior/Program Assistant (S/PA), based in Kyiv, Ukraine. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing analytical, programmatic, and administrative support to NDI’s party work under the supervision of the Senior Program Manager, and ultimately the Resident Country Director. The candidate should be a citizen of Ukraine or have a permanent residence and work permit. Fluency in English is required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide general assistance to all program operations and serve as primary support to the Senior Program Manager.
- Assist in planning and implementation of program activities with political parties.
- Follow and provide updates on the political situation in the country.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of program activities.
- Perform administrative duties as needed to support program activities, including data entry, arranging appointments, travel, preparing correspondence, and records maintenance.
- Provide oral translation at seminars, conferences, and meetings and written translation of program materials as needed.
- Provide logistical arrangements for organizing program events and maintain logistical support to program staff during travel.
- Prepare meeting/activities notes, and background information on political actors when needed.
- Assist with and provide back-up for the day-to-day operations of the program, responding to routine program inquiries, and ensuring prompt and accurate forwarding of messages.
- Reconcile expenditures in accordance with NDI’s financial policies.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Affairs, Public Administration, or a related subject.
- Ability to demonstrate a keen interest in government reforms and political processes;
- Work experience in a related field and understanding of the political and civic landscape in Ukraine is preferred;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Ability to work in an organized manner, meet deadlines, and work in a team;
- Experience working to promote inclusion, especially of women and other marginalized communities is desirable
- Language fluency in Ukrainian and English
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs, Google Suite)
Remuneration Package
NDI Ukraine’s salaries are subject to applicable employment taxes established by the government legislation. Gross salary reflects a 40-hour per week work schedule. Healthcare insurance coverage is available from the first day of employment. The full benefits of local staff members of the NDI-Ukraine office after the probation period include 20 days of paid vacation leave per year, paid sick leaves, and officially observed Ukrainian holidays.
