Senior Harvest MAPF Communications Representative

Background: 

The USAID Harvest Activity enables supported male and female grain and oilseed farmers, including marginalized and underserved groups, to return production and income for target commodities to at least pre-war levels while improving production efficiency and profitability and position farmers to market their crops more successfully and profitably in the wartime context.  Ukraine Harvest will focus on five target commodities: barley, corn, soybean, sunflower, and wheat. In connection to the overall goals, Ukraine Harvest has three primary objectives:

Objective 1: Profitable, Climate-Smart, Market-Oriented Production Expanded

Objective 2: Farmers’ Access to Profitable Markets Improved

Objective 3: Market System Efficiency and Inclusiveness Improved

Position Description:

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine (MAPF) plays a crucial role in shaping public perception of agricultural reform, irrigation, land reclamation, and land reform. Effective communication strategies are vital to engaging with the public, stakeholders, and international partners to support the Ministry’s objectives. To enhance these efforts, the Ministry seeks to recruit an experienced Analyst Writer who will provide comprehensive written communication materials supported by in-depth analysis and data.

The Senior Harvest MAPF Communications Representative will work at Harvest offices and aid MAPF in the creation and implementation of communications strategy related to grains and oilseeds 

Responsibilities:

The Senior Harvest MAPF Communications Representative will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Coordination of communication activities of partners implementing the MAPF’s programs, advising partners on their communication activities.
  • Develop and implement a communication strategy for the open data sector;
  • cooperation with the media: generating newsworthy events, preparing press materials, developing ideas for special projects and their implementation;
  • Analysis of the effectiveness of communication channels;
  • Provide input into Harvest weekly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • participation in the preparation and holding of public events;
  • evaluation of the effectiveness of communication activities;
  • Cooperation with external contractors (designers, printing, translators): preparation of terms of reference, monitoring of implementation; on behalf of MAPF.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

 Qualifications 

  • Bachelors degree or graduate degree in communication, marketing, journalism, international relations or related fields;
  • 2 years of experience as a PR or communication manager;
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing communication strategies;
  • Experience in working with the media;
  • Understanding of SMM and digital marketing;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills;
  • Understanding of the socio-political situation in Ukraine and digitalization;
  • Experience of cooperation with government agencies, international TCP projects will be an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, proven ability to build relationships and foster collaboration;
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, to take the initiative, and to meet deadlines;
  • Proven research and analytical skills, ability to process and summarize complex information;
  • Well versed in project management professional norms, including mastery of work breakdown structure creation, scheduling, etc. Firm understanding of the market systems development approach. Superior interpersonal, public speaking, and team building skills. 
  • Experienced user of MS Office 365 applications. Use Microsoft Teams as needed to carry out tasks and collaborate with other activity staff.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, additional languages are an asset;
  • Knowledge of English and Ukrainian languages;

 

Job Location

This position is based in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Salary   

Negotiable based on experience and qualifications
