The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors. The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs.
NRC is looking for Durable Solutions Technical Assistant (Data Base) in our office in Severodonetsk, Ukraine.
Job description:
- Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Support the Durable Solutions in implementing IPD profiling and IDP situations research
- Bearing responsibility for arranging the working process and implementation of tasks in line with priorities and standards
- Contribute into the research process
- Use initiative in day to day problem solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the area of work
- Promote and share ideas for improvement in area of expertise
- Ensure that the data reports are accurate and reliable for the interim reports;
- Maintain a clear and complete database for IDPs and local population profiling.
- Maintain the entered data and ensure that data can be tracked / reconciled easily, in accordance with NRC policies. Summarize the entered data in the form of statistical reports as appropriate;
- Test databases, correct errors, clean up data and make necessary modifications.
- Set up new tracking systems and Excel databases as needed to document and record IPD profiling activities;
- Perform any other related duty as requested by the Profiling exercise.
- Participation, if required, in the regular meetings of Technical Working Group contributing into the agenda
- Support automated data storage and updates;
- Provide any kind of assistance to the Durable Solutions as a whole, based on needs.
Qualifications:
- Experience in data collection in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Experience in communicating with population and working in complex and volatile contexts
- Good organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in using COBO or other instruments for data collection
- Intermediate both spoken and written English is required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required, Microsoft Excel advanced is required.
- Experience in Mobile Data Collection, including design and development of surveys, is a serious advantage.
- At least 1 year experience in data management and tracking/accounting, with NGOs or UN agencies strongly preferred.
- Prospective candidates must have strong analytical skills, information managing skills, with attention to details.
- He/she must be diligent in paperwork, have integrity and be able to cooperate with members of other teams.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, applied mathematics or statistics is required.
