Job Description

Role and responsibilities
The purpose of the officer position is day to day implementation of the support functions responsibilities. Use actions words such as ensure, implement or assist for the position relevant responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Generic responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.

  1. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Assist with the implementation of the Finance function portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  4. Supporting finance team with filing, scanning and maintaining organized filing system with allfinancial and accounting documents and ensure filing is done according to NRC standards
  5. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the Finance function
  6. Contribute to identification of protection risks and needs in the context of program implementation
  7. Ensure NRC finance, HR, logistics guidelines are followed
  8. Any other duties that will be assigned by Finance Officer/Coordinator
  9. Assist Fin coordinator/officer for internal and external Financial & Systems Audits conducted at NRCUkraine

Specific responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

  • Maintaining cash and prepare daily cashbox reconciliations
  • Making payments in online bank system
  • Ensure supporting documents for transactions in a line with minimum requirements
  • Support in banking related issues
  • Ensure supporting documentation scanned and upload to Filling Tree
  • Other tasks from Finance Officer(FO)/Finance Coordinator(FC)

Qualifications

Professional competencies
These are skills, knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance. 

Generic professional competencies:

  • Experience from working as a Finance Assistant/Accountant
  • Knowledge of accounting
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts – preferable
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge of English, both written and verbal – preferable

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Knowledge of the context in the areas NRC operates – preferable
  • Fluency in Ukrainian/Russian both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of legal tax base for the representation office
  • Experience from working with local financial institutions and tax authorities – preferable
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial systems
  • Experience online banking and/or cash handling
