GIZ is supporting Ukraine on its path to EU accession. It advises the country on necessary reforms and drives forward the modernization of public administration. Thanks to its decades-long record of cooperation and a network spanning the entire country, GIZ is well placed to offer tailored support that is both forward-looking and responsive to local needs. In Ukraine, around 440 Ukrainian and over 70 international employees are currently working for GIZ in 35 ongoing projects. At present, GIZ in Ukraine operates on behalf of four German Federal Ministries. Additionally, we work for the European Union (EU) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
The Communication Specialist is responsible for:
- Development of a communication concept for GIZ Ukraine;
- Implementing all planned external and internal communication measures – from digital formats, publications and presentations to events;
- Responsibility for the social media channels of the Country Office and further develop existing digital formats;
- Advise the cluster and project communicators of the state portfolio and support the communicator network;
- Responsibility for media monitoring and the commissioning and coordination of creative service providers and event agencies;
- Supporting the development of communication-relevant standard indicators to measure the impact of the projects;
- Supporting the BMZ in processing communication-related enquiries.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor/Master degree in communication, public relations, journalism or another relevant field of study.
- At least 2-3 years of professional experience in the field of public relations with internationally operating companies, PR agencies or international cooperation organizations;
- Strong conceptual skills and a good feel for political and corporate sensitivities. It is not a long way for you from creative brainstorming to a structured concept paper with trenchant presentation slides;
- High level of textual competence and a strong sense for good stories. You make skillful use of images, videos and infographics to convey complex content clearly;
- You tick digitally. For you, social media is not just Facebook, YouTube, Twitter or LinkedIn. You also know how to use Microsoft 365 applications – such as Sharepoint, Yammer or Teams – for internal GIZ purposes;
- Strong understanding how to build networks and manage communities constructively and with team spirit. Because for you, the best solutions come about together;
- High proficiency in written and spoken Ukrainian, German and English.

Employment conditions:
Full-time position with 40-hours working week. Place of assignment is Kyiv. Contract duration is 1 year. Prolongation is possible.
