Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Ukraine is seeking a qualified professional for the Country Office to fill the position of the:

Communication Specialist (full-time, Kyiv)

On behalf of the German government, the EU, and other donors, GIZ is already supporting Ukraine in its reconstruction efforts. The focus is on building municipal and social infrastructure, ensuring reliable energy supplies and strengthening the Ukrainian economy. At the same time, GIZ is supporting the country on its path towards EU accession. It provides advice on necessary reforms and drives the modernisation of public administration. Its decades-long record of cooperation and a network spanning the entire country mean that GIZ is well placed to offer tailored support that is both forward-looking and responsive to citizens’ needs. Around 600 staff work for GIZ in Ukraine, in about 45 projects.

We are looking for a broad-based PR expert with a high affinity for social media management.

The position includes the following tasks:

• Managing the social media channels of GIZ Ukraine (especially LinkedIn), coordinating a social media service provider, operating an editorial plan.
• Developing and refining the communications strategy for GIZ’s Ukraine-specific external and internal communications activities.
• Planning, managing and monitoring communications activities and instruments within Ukraine and international – from media relations and social media to corporate publishing (fact sheets, Power Point presentations, promotional material) and events.
• Editing the GIZ´s Ukraine website.
• Cooperating with GIZ Corporate Communications and other communications units within GIZ´s Ukraine portfolio.
• Participating in the GIZ Corporate Communications network, including attendance at Corporate Communications workshops.
• Cooperating with the German Embassy in Kyiv (e.g. by introducing topics, researching information and identifying contact persons, for instance for media enquiries).
• Support for internal communications in the Country Office.
• Coordinating and cooperating with external service providers (e.g. consultants, agencies, photographers, trainers, writers).

Required qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor/Master degree in communication, public relations, journalism or another relevant field of study.
• At least 4 years of professional experience in the field of public relations with internationally operating companies, PR agencies or international cooperation organizations.
• Strong conceptual skills and a good feel for political and corporate sensitivities
• It is not a long way for you from creative brainstorming to a structured concept paper with trenchant presentation slides.
• High affinity for social media and digital issues
• High level of textual competence and a strong sense for good stories.
• You make skillful use of images, videos and infographics to convey complex content clearly.
• You also know how to use Microsoft 365 applications – such as Sharepoint, Yammer or Teams – for internal GIZ purposes.
• Strong understanding how to build networks and manage communities constructively and with team spirit. Because for you, the best solutions come about together.
• High proficiency in written and spoken Ukrainian, German and English

Employment conditions

Full-time position with 40-hours working week. Place of assignment is Kyiv. The assignment starts as of 01.04.2025. Contract duration is 1 year. Prolongation is possible.
