We are an international non-profit organization with a membership base across around 120 countries and promote a holistic approach to food systems based on the principles of health, ecology, fairness, and care.
The Position
It’s an exciting time to join our team! With the expected launch in the near future of our new project, Organic Trade for Development (OT4D) in the three countries in Eastern Europe: Albania, Serbia and Ukraine, we are looking for a consultant in the Ukraine. The project consists of 2 components:
- Component 1: to boost the organic exports
- Component 2: to enhance the organic sector growth sustainably
The consultant will be supporting the IFOAM – Organic International team in the planning and implementing of the component 2 in Ukraine. As a proactive team player, you are able to work collaboratively as part of a multicultural and interdisciplinary team. You will work closely with a Project Monitoring Unit team of 5, based in Bonn, Germany and two country coordinators in Albania and Serbia. We are aiming to fill this position as soon as possible.
Scope
The scope of work includes the coordination of component 2 “organic sector growth is sustainable” and the interfaces between the two components. The main objective of the project is to promote organic producers, operators and exporters and hence the organic farming sector in Serbia, Albania and Ukraine. The strategic objectives are the strengthening of organic export capacities and sustainable growth of the organic farming sector including job creation for youth.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Overall coordination of component 2 and management of interfaces with component 1
- Contribution to ensuring a sound understanding of the context and developments of the organic sector in the Ukraine
- Preparation of intervention plans for intervention areas according to the output level of the logframe
- Participating at planning and review workshops
- Monitoring the activities and results and reporting regularly to the PMU
- Coordinate / support implementation of interventions of component 2
- Support the marketing of organic products on local markets
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Academic degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in a relevant field related to sustainable agriculture, rural development, development cooperation
- At least 2 years of experience working in international setting (Non-Profit-Organization or similar)
- Working experience with OT4D’s donor agency State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is an asset
- Experience in project management, including financial oversight
- Working experience in Ukraine and Balkan countries in the field of organic agriculture / sector are a distinguished asset
- Strong organizational skills and able to adequately handle multiple demands
- You are reliable, stress resistant, able to recognize and set priorities and to keep deadlines and commitments
- Proven interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills, both oral and written and attitude of promoting a culture of effective, change-oriented learning
- Ability to work independently and with cross-cultural teams, sensitivity for gender & social equity and the local culture
- Excellent spoken and written English & Ukrainian, any other language is an asset
Our Offer
We offer a consultancy contract in a dynamic and multicultural team of a well-established and growing, international organization. The contract is foreseen to take place from 1 May 2021 until 30 June 2023 for 130 days (8 hrs per day).
The consultant works form her/his home office and is responsible to take care of social insurances and tax duties according to the regulations applying at the consultant location.
