Position Purpose
Community Action for HIV Control is seeking for a consultant to test the Project’s dashboards (Bechmark lookerstudio, Tableau) for usability and data presentation and develop recommendations for improving the data organization and presentation on the dashboards.
The request involves testing of 42 pages of Benchmark developed in lookerstudio and 4 pages of benchmark developed inTableau and developing the recommendations on improve the visualization tools

Technical Task for Dashboard Tester:
Verify Data Accuracy:
- Match the data displayed on the dashboard with the source data to ensure they are correctly represented.
- Verify that all values (numerical data, percentages, sums, etc.) are accurately aggregated or calculated.
Test Filters:
- Apply various filters on the dashboard and check if the data and visualizations adjust correctly according to the selected parameters.
- Test the interaction of multiple filters simultaneously to ensure proper functionality.
Evaluate Performance:
- Simulate the dashboard’s performance with a large volume of data and identify any delays or failures.
- Measure the loading times of the dashboard and its components with different data volumes.
- Suggest improvements to enhance dashboard performance.
Check Responsiveness:
- Verify how the dashboard looks and functions on different devices (desktop, tablet, mobile phone).
- Resize the browser window and check if the design adapts correctly.
Verify Element Interaction:
- Ensure that interactive elements (charts, tables, buttons, links) function correctly.
- Confirm that clicking on specific data displays the relevant details or additional information.
Check Chart and Table Representation:
- Assess whether all types of visualizations (line charts, bar charts, pie charts, heatmaps, etc.) are displayed correctly.
- Ensure that chart axes are properly labeled and all data is readable.
Test for Errors:
- Input incorrect or missing data into filters and observe how the dashboard handles these cases.
- Check how the dashboard behaves if data fails to load or if there are connection issues with the database.
Verify Export and Print Functions:
- Test data export functions to different formats (PDF, Excel, CSV, etc.) and evaluate if the data is exported correctly.
- Verify how the dashboard appears when copying, pasting, or printing, and check if the formatting is preserved.
Prepare a Report with Testing Results and Recommendations on:
- Enhancing dashboard usability.
- Improving the logical application of tools.
- Optimizing data visualization approaches.
- Speeding up query processing.
Timeline: September 15 – October 20, 25 working days
Consultant Qualification Requirements:
Technical Skills:
- Experience with Tableau: Understanding of core Tableau features, including dashboard creation, use of filters, parameters, and user interfaces. Experience in optimizing dashboard performance and testing data and visualization accuracy.
- Experience with Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio): Knowledge of Looker Studio features, particularly data source configuration, creation of interactive reports, and testing of various visualization types.
- Understanding of Data Visualization Fundamentals: Ability to analyze whether visualizations correctly represent data and meet business requirements.
- SQL Knowledge: Basic understanding of SQL to verify database queries used in dashboards.
- Experience with Data Sources: Knowledge of principles for connecting to various data sources (databases, APIs, files), data validation, and management.
Analytical Skills:
- Attention to Detail: Ability to identify and correct even minor errors in data or visualizations.
- Analytical Thinking: Capability to analyze dashboard structure and identify potential issues in its logic or data representation.
- Problem-Solving Approach: Ability to detect problems in dashboard performance, propose solutions, and implement them.
Testing Experience:
- Experience in User Interface Testing: Testing dashboard usability and interactive elements (buttons, filters, parameters).
- Knowledge of Testing Methods: Understanding of various testing types (functional, non-functional, regression) and automated testing (if applicable).
- Performance Evaluation: Ability to conduct performance testing of dashboards under different loads.
Communication Skills:
- Documentation: Ability to create clear reports on identified errors and recommendations for dashboard improvements.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to effectively communicate with developers, data analysts, and other team members to resolve issues and implement changes.
Education and Certification:
- Education: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or related fields is preferred.
- Certification: Holding certifications in Tableau (e.g., Tableau Desktop Specialist) or Looker Studio is a plus.
