Summary of America House Program:
Through the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, IREX administers the America House project, a network of welcoming, dynamic spaces that foster discussion and debate, provides opportunities for professional and personal skill building, and sparks creativity and collaboration around shared Ukrainian and U.S. values. The America House Kyiv offers not only a physical space, but also a virtual hub, which facilitates access to balanced resources and information. Summary of Position:
The America House Kyiv Events & Tech Assistant is responsible for technical support of a wide range of programs and events that take place within America House, including discussions on pressing policy issues, speaker series, workshops, movie nights, discussion clubs, art exhibits, and concerts. Under the guidance of IT, Tech & Innovations Manager, from movie screenings and open mic nights, to live online events and concerts, Events & Tech Assistant operates a broad range of equipment and supports event management logistics. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Description of Responsibilities:
- Assist with implementation of events of online and offline formats;
- Handle and operate a wide range of equipment including audio mixers, wireless microphones, LCD projectors, synchronized translation equipment, etc.;
- Maintain MakerSpace equipment, such as iMacs, 3D printers, 3D scanner, Vinyl cutters, Thermo-press, Arduino, Raspberry Pi 3, Midi Keyboard, etc.;
- Operate streaming platforms and tools, such as Zoom, OBS, MS Teams, etc., to provide the best quality virtual programs;
- Assist team, offline visitors, online participants and partners with using tech equipment and provide tech support when needed;
- Ensure America House Kyiv equipment is always in presentable and working condition;
- Design events that promote science and technology;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Good English, and Ukrainian;
- Strong communications skills;
- Reliable team player;
- Demonstrated customer-service orientation, skilled at handling multiple tasks and able to maintain a calm, friendly demeanor under stressful situations;
- Prior experience in technical fields is preferable but not required;
- Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and other related graphic media applications is an advantage;
- Experience studying in the United States or holding an ECA alumnus/a status is an advantage.
