Summary of America House Program:
Through the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, IREX administers the America Houses, a welcoming, dynamic space that fosters discussion and debate, provides opportunities for professional and personal skill building, and sparks creativity and collaboration around shared Ukrainian and U.S. values. The America Houses offer not only physical spaces, but also a virtual hub, which facilitates access to balanced resources and information. Peer-to-peer cultural exchanges, discussions and learning at the America Houses provide visitors with a seat in “America’s living room.”
Summary of Position:
The America House Odesa Events & Tech Coordinator is responsible for the technical support of a wide range of programs and events that take place within America House Odesa, including discussions on pressing policy issues, speaker series, workshops, movie nights, discussion clubs, art exhibits, and concerts. Events & Tech Coordinator operates a broad range of equipment and supports event management coordination.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Description of Responsibilities:
- Provide technical, administrative, and logistical support to ensure smooth implementation of events of online, offline and hybrid formats;
- Support the team during the space renovation and provide tech support for public events in partner locations while AHO space is under renovation;
- Handle and operate a wide range of equipment, including audio mixers, wireless microphones, LCD projectors, light units, synchronized translation equipment, etc.;
- In consultation with AHK IT and Tech Innovations Manager set-up and maintain Media Zone and Makerspace equipment, such as iMacs, 3D printers, Vinyl cutters, Thermo-press, sound equipment, etc.;
- Operate streaming platforms and tools, such as OBS, Zoom, MS Teams, etc., to provide the best quality virtual programs;
- Assist team, offline visitors, online participants, and partners with using tech equipment and provide tech support when needed;
- Ensure America House Odesa equipment is always in presentable and working condition;
- Design events that promote science and technology;
- Draft program-related documents and reports;
- Assist in procuring tech equipment and services needed for the program implementation;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Good English and Ukrainian;
- Strong communications skills;
- Reliable team player;
- Demonstrated customer-service orientation, skilled at handling multiple tasks and able to maintain a calm, friendly demeanor in stressful situations;
- Prior experience in technical fields is required;
- Experience studying in the United States or holding an ECA alumnus/a status is an advantage.
- Applicant must currently reside in Odesa, Ukraine.
