With regards to the above and in the framework of the project ‘Inclusive Access to Protective Learning for Conflict-Affected Girls, Boys, and Adolescents’ funded by Education Cannot Wait (ECW), AVSI and EMMAUS are currently seeking to recruit a:
Position: 1 Field Officer – Civil Engineer
Duty Stations: 1 Field Officer in Poltava City
Department: Project
Starting date: ASAP
Period: 2 months of probation with possibility to extend
Salary range: net USD 600-800 according to job experience
Report to: Project Manager
Summary of the key responsibilities:
- Study of the areas for light rehabilitation (mainly schools, youth centers, and shelters).
- Draft of project documentation to present to companies for the realisation of construction works (rehabilitating walls, renovating ventilation systems, reinstalment of windows, rehabilitation of bomb shelters, etc.)
- Supervision of the works by construction companies;
- Evaluation of the good quality of works;
- Coordinate activities in the establishment and management of Digital Learning Spaces in the oblast;
- Ensure that activities are carried out in the established and planned timing;
- Ensure that activities are carried out with quality;
- Ensure that beneficiaries are treated equally and adequately by all AVSI and EMMAUS staff;
- Coordinate AVSI and EMMAUS staff and ensure their work is carried out correctly;
- Coordinate and support Logistician and Operation Manager for procurements;
- Coordinate and support the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in monitoring the activities;
- Maintain good relation with Local authorities and other stakeholders in the reference area;
- Timely inform and report to the Project Manager on the progresses as well as problems arise during the planning of the activities;
- Any other related tasks requested by the Project Manager
Required and essential qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge of English and Ukrainian language (both written and oral)
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- At least, 2 years of experience in civil engineering and in the preparation of project documentation for works and in their coordination.
Other preferable requirements:
- Experience in coordinating distribution of items and/or in carrying out educational and psychosocial activities both in emergency and/or development context.
- Previous experience in working with International NGO;
- Having done any training in coordination, distribution of cash and/or basic goods, education and psychosocial support;
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written);
- Knowledge of humanitarian standards;
- Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy;
- Highly organized and flexible;
- Able to work under pressure and under strict deadlines;
- Strong team-building;
- Strong logical reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and use of relevant software and other applications, e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet;
