Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Ukraine is seeking qualified professionals for the project “Vocational Education and Training in Ukraine \ Skills4Recovery” for the Cluster “Sustainable Economic Development” in its office in Kyiv to fill the position of the:
Financial Specialist (full-time, Kyiv)

The project «Skills4Recovery» is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The political partners are the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
The objective of the project «Skills4Recovery» is to increase the availability of a qualified workforce for the Ukrainian recovery process. The provision of qualified labor in sufficient numbers is based on creating adequate educational opportunities for all people of working age – this includes initial education for young people and further education for adults.
Area of responsibilities:
- Formal and mathematical checking of Local Subsidy Financial Statements, invoices, Financing contracts and other payment requests.
- Obtaining confirmation of delivery of services and goods by project technical staff and Project Directors.
- Supports program budget planning and financial management.
- Processes finance and accounting requests from Country Office, project, cluster and superior.
- Supports the preparation of financial reports, contributes to the preparation of internal and external audits.
- Advising staff members, consultants and beneficiaries on invoicing as well as on the settlement of invoices and financial reports.
- Accompanies team members to meetings if necessary.
- Deputy function to other Finance Specialists in the Service Unit of the cluster.
- Ensures smooth communication and cooperation with other finance and procurement specialists of the Service Unit, technical staff of the Project and GIZ Ukraine Country Office.
- Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management.
Requirements:
- University degree, desirable BA/MA in accounting, economics or similar area.
- At least 3 year’s professional experience in a comparable position is desirable.
- Keen on details within pre-checking of financial reports and statements.
- Ability to work under pressure, reliability and flexibility.
- Good knowledge of Ukrainian legislation and accounting requirements.
- Fluent written and oral knowledge of English and Ukrainian, knowledge of German would be an advantage.
- Excellent working knowledge of ITC technologies and computer applications, particularly EXCEL, MS SharePoint, and other MS Office applications.
- Experienced to work in an international team; working experience with EU funded projects would be an asset.
- Good self-organization skills.
- Customer and service-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed.

Employment conditions
Full-time position with 40-hours working week. The place of assignment is Kyiv. Starting as soon as possible.
