USAID Economic Resilience Activity (ERA), implemented by DAI GLOBAL LLC, empowers business and community development in eastern Ukraine. The conflict has left eastern Ukraine’s infrastructure badly in need of repair, investment, and reorientation. ERA will work with regional stakeholders to mobilize the investment needed to address the region’s infrastructure needs.
To strengthen our team and infrastructure footprint in Donetsk and Luhansk region, we are looking for a qualified Industrial Engineering Consultant to work in collaboration with international experts from the DAI Sustainable Business Group (SBG). SBG will provide methodologies and materials to be adapted with the consultant’s assistance to the Ukrainian context. The deliverables produced by the consultant will be incorporated into reports produced by SBG for presentation to the participating SMEs.
Objectives:
Industrial Engineering Consultant will work contribute is conducting a study to support market diversification for 5 industrial engineering (Engineering and Design) firms in government-controlled areas of Luhansk Oblast. This study will help these enterprises diversify their clients base beyond Russian and CIS firms, as well as their sector portfolios beyond oil and gas, where appropriate. The conclusions are expected to include key elements related to industry standards, industry trends, capacity building, marketing, regulation, and management systems.
Your main tasks will be:
- Stakeholder Identification: Help identify key stakeholders, companies, organizations and experts to understand and engage as part of the study.
- Desktop research: Conduct applicable data collection and other information gathering.
- Interviews: Lead interviews (1-2 hours) with participating stakeholders (15-20) in Ukrainian.
- Methodologies: Provide feedback into methodologies being used to evaluate data.
- Analysis: Share insights and conclusions to interviews and methodologies.
- Final Report: Provide comments to final report and confirm alignment with study objectives, completeness and applicability.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have a proven knowledge of the commercial, business and multidisciplinary standards and trends pertinent to the Ukrainian Industrial Engineering and Design sector as well as international alternatives/equivalents. We also expect you to have a proven experience to bring a business consulting capability, thereby able to help uncover complex problems and develop bespoke solutions. You will apply your expertise in the sector, region and similar projects to help develop a truly impactful, transformative and actionable strategy.
Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
- A qualified Engineer or relevant technical degree – mainstream Industrial engineering discipline e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrument Engineering.
- Preferred Master’s degree in Business, Management or related fields and experience of work in the sector.
- Knowledge of the Ukrainian Industrial Engineering ecosystem and full knowledge of Ukrainian Industrial Engineering Standards and their equivalency to international engineering standards across all major engineering disciplines.
- At least five years of experience consulting with firms in oil and gas, chemicals, industrial engineering and related fields.
- Experience with business and strategy consulting.
- Fluency in English, Ukrainian, Russian.
- Good interpersonal skills, and ability to succeed in a multi-cultural environment.
Desirable
- Work experience with internationally funded projects preferred;
- Experience with USAID or other international donors will be a significant advantage. Similar clerical positions will be considered in lieu of construction experience.
WE OFFER
Contract length: 3-months consultant agreement for November 2020 – February 2021.
Level of efforts: 30 days at rate
