Вакансія: Junior Energy Efficiency Specialist

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Ukraine is seeking a qualified professional for the project “Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Implementation of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive (FEER)” to fill the position:
Junior Energy Efficiency Specialist (full-time, Kyiv)
(internal SAP code: Junior Energy Specialist)
GIZ-project “Promotion of Energy Efficiency and EU Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine” – component “Energy Efficiency in municipalities”. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany and State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland (SECO) and is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and in close cooperation with the Ministry for Infrastructure (formerly Ministry for Regional Development of Building and Housing). The component “Energy efficiency in municipalities” works to support Ukrainian municipalities increase their energy efficiency by the implementation of municipal energy management and development of municipal energy plans. On of the key elements is implementation of demo projects in energy efficiency in buildings and critical infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Junior Energy Efficiency Specialist:
- provides support in running all technical activities smoothly and ensuring adequate implementation of the project’s activities;
- supports all monitoring and reporting obligations of the component to partners and commissioning parties;
- maintains close and highly professional contact with project partners on the municipal level in order to provide high quality assistance in the field of municipal energy planning in particular;
- supports the project in terms of conceptualizing and implementing events, preparing official communications, as well as meeting protocol requirements and standards;
- abidance to the rules and regulations of GIZ, PuR, GIZ Code of Conduct.
Tasks
1.Coordination and monitoring
The Junior Energy Efficiency Specialist:
- puts together an overview of project/programme activities, deadlines etc. and presents this regularly at team meetings;
- plans, coordinates and documents meetings, workshops, seminars and other project activities;
- orders and distributes PR materials (including brochures, printing materials, merchandise, etc.) on the project/programme;
- supports national and international missions of experts as well as knowledge-exchange in case of possibility due to security reasons;
- drafts Terms of References for contracts on trainings, workshops, events, consultancy support.
- in consultation with the manager or expert, prepares and carries out qualitative research projects (developing survey instruments, field trials, training field staff, organizational preparation in the field, collecting and analyzing data, supporting the partners).
- Knowledge management
The Junior Energy Efficiency Specialist:
- draws up presentation materials, translations;
- supports a project database, organize and support the knowledge management system using internal GIZ web-resources;
- supports in communicating, updating and collecting information on the server, internal web-sources.
- Implementation of project activities
The Junior Energy Efficiency Specialist
- prepares, supports the organization of meetings, workshops and seminars on-line (and off-line when security situation allows) together with external experts and consultants for partner municipalities and other stakeholders;
- contributes to achieve the overall project goals by independently arranging/coordinating the proper preparation of conferences, workshops and other events and supervises implementation;
- supports the project team in organizational matters, e.g. in operational planning, monitoring and other coordination sessions of the team;
- supports in maintaining excellent professional relations with partners and stakeholders;
- ensures dialogue between project partners and external experts;
- supports the preparation of national and international study tours and supervises the groups during the trips when the situation allows due to security reasons.
4.General obligations
The Junior Energy Efficiency Specialist
- is familiar with principles of efficient planning, implementation and monitoring procedures in the field of energy efficiency project implementation and energy planning.
5.Other duties/additional tasks
The Junior Energy Efficiency Specialist
- performs other relevant duties and tasks at the request of management.
Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
- University degree;
- Good knowledge of national and international practices in energy efficiency;
- Good organisational and communication skills;
- Good knowledge of digital technologies and willingness to develop the digital skills.
Professional experience
- At least 1 year of work experience in international environment and 3 years of total working experience;
- experience in energy efficiency projects is an asset;
- experience in arranging/coordinating the proper preparation of conferences, workshops, and other events, organizing communications with partners on municipal levels, including Mayors, deputy Mayors, heads of departments and specialists;
- experience in preparing official communications and meeting protocols.
Other knowledge, additional competences
- working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office, MS Teams, Adobe Acrobate, etc.);
- very good knowledge of English, knowledge of German is an asset;
- understanding of the basic principles of energy efficiency, Ukrainian legislation in sphere of energy efficiency, gender issues;
- willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management;
- strong self-organization skills and goal orientation combined with a high level of frustration tolerance.

Employment conditions
Full-time position with 40-hours working week. Place of assignment is Kyiv. Starting as soon as possible.
