The Energy Efficiency and Climate Sector of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Ukraine comprises various projects implemented on behalf of the German government to support Ukraine on its way to transforming into an energy efficient country. Partners of the projects are Ukrainian ministries on the national level, local communities on the municipal level, and companies in private sector. There are 8 projects in the Cluster portfolio. In their operations and business activities, they are supported by a Financial Unit to guarantee the accurate and sufficient usage of projects’ funds to reach goals and to gain the best results in projects’ implementation period.
We are looking for a qualified professional for the Energy Efficiency and Climate Sector to fill the position of the Junior Financial Professional with a knowledge of accounting principles to support the financial management and efficient budget planning and strengthen the Finance team ahead of the growing projects portfolio GIZ.
Tasks
- Invoice checking.
- Bank and Cash management.
- Supporting that financial administration of projects fully meet GIZ standards, procedures, requirements.
- Supporting in communication and coordinating within Energy Efficiency and Climate Sector and Country Office and/or relevant GIZ Head Office to ensure adapted procedures.
- Assisting in advising the project staff to all questions regarding finances and accounting.
- Assisting in managing annual/monthly financial planning (PFM), monitoring and accounting for the assigned energy efficiency projects, ensuring compliance with the FIMO.
- Supporting in monitoring and management of Accounts Payable/Receivable, Obligation (SAP, WINPACCS).
- Supporting that local contracts are monitored and settled.
- Financial management of Local Subsidies (LS); checking, monitoring, coordinating LS reports, preparation of trainings including relevant presentation, factsheets, internal memos.
- Supporting that all related requirements of internal controls (IC) are met, and annual controls are being prepared and conducted appropriately.
- Substitution for bank and cash management for Energy Efficient and Climate Cluster (EE&C Cluster).
- Maintains archive of C financial documents, including B and E folders, including Inventory.
- Providing finance related administrative services for the projects.
Qualifications
- University degree in relevant specialization and qualification in business administration desirable (equivalent of BA)or related area.
- At least 2 years’ professional experience in a comparable position.
- Experience of working in NGO is an advantage.
- Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
- Confidential handling of data and information.
- Good knowledge of the English language, a knowledge of German is an advantage.
- Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
- Proactive, innovative, and hands-on attitude.
- Keen on details within checking of reports.

Assignment
Full-time position with 40 hours working week. Contract duration is 1 year. Prolongation is possible.
