TERMS OF REFERENCE
In August 2022 DW Akademie, together with its regional partners, starts the second stage of the development of Colmena: a digital ecosystem for local and community media.
- Project Description
DW Akademie, Germany’s leading organisation for international media development department of Deutsche Welle, in partnership with Transtele Canal France International (CFI) and Lithuanian Radio and Television (LRT) implement the project “MediaFit Programme for Information Integrity in southern and eastern Ukraine” (ENI/2021/423-657). The project is co-funded by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Since January 2021, as part of the BMZ financed Global Crisis Initiative (GKI), DW Akademie powers the co-creation of a digital ecosystem for local and community media: Colmena – Free collaborative tools to create and share.
Bringing together in one application, open and free, all the essential tools for local and community media production workflows: recording, editing, sharing, remote interviewing, streaming, team meetings, file sharing, remote collaboration, publishing and broadcasting; designed for a broad range of devices and fully functional with low or no internet connectivity.
The prototype of this integrated open-source solution is currently being tested and improved by media partners, developers, and advisers. In April 2022, a first fully functional version was launched and interested media outlets can apply for free usage and support. For more information on Colmena, please see https://blog.colmena.media/
For this project, it opens the application for the position of: Localization, UX and support for Ukraine from September 2022 to 15 March 2023.
- Conditions
- The contract will be consultant type.
- The tasks are performed remotely.
- The days of work will be on average 6 days per month.
- Scope of activities of position include
- Support of the adaption of Colmena for a Ukrainian version (language, menu structure) in coordination with the developer’s team,
- Feedback on the terminology of static content (menus, manuals), created by other project participants,
- Dialogue with the UX lead organisation Tunapanda Institute and adaption of the methodology to the Ukrainian context,
- Selection of UX testing participants in Ukraine according to criteria set by Tunapanda Institute,
- Realization of UX testing and reporting of the results to Tunapanda Institute,
- Support of the SysAdmin team with the creation of user accounts for Ukrainian media,
- Support of Colmena users in Ukraine with usability questions.
- Requirements
