Вакансія: Programme Policy Officer SC8 (Odesa, Ukraine)

ABOUT WFP

The United Nations World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.  The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

What will you do in this position?

You will provide effective planning, coordination, and support to programme activities so as to effectively meet the food assistance needs of the affected population.

Why work with us?

The war in Ukraine has had drastic consequences, both for people inside the country and for those around the world dependent on its huge grain supplies. It has caused one of the fastest forced population movements since the Second World War. Close to 8 million Ukrainians are living as refugees across Europe, and another 5.3 million are internally displaced. Many are destitute, having lost their homes and livelihoods. As food production and supply lines are disrupted by fighting, many families in the east and south do not have reliable access to nutritious food.

In this position, you will have to:

  • Contribute to the development of projects plans and processes for implementation of cash-based transfers and in-kind food assistance programs.
  • Provide efficient and effective coordination and project management support for food assistance activities (Cash-based transfers and in-kind assistance)
  • Support the development of systems and tools for various program activities and processes following innovative methodologies and best practice.
  • Supervise teams working on data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained
  • Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reports on programs and activities that enable informed decision making.
  • Contribute to evidence-based decision-making on programme design and implementation, notably through monitoring, review and evaluations findings.
  • Support WFP Management in addressing recommendations from monitoring, reviews and evaluations and ensure that follow-up actions are taken as required.
  • Research and analyze policy and operational issues to support senior colleagues in the development of policies, programmes, and activities.
  • Liaise with internal and external counterparts to ensure effective collaboration in ongoing projects.
  • Ensure regular monitoring of food assistance activities, conduct trainings for cooperating partners, local authorities, and beneficiaries as required.
  • Support the identification, development, and management of potential partnerships for food assistance programs.
  • Support the capacity building of WFP staff and partners to prepare for and respond to food assistance needs.
  • Guide and supervise more junior staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with more complex analysis and queries.
  • Any other duties as require.

To join us in saving lives, changing lives, you will have:

Education:  Advanced University degree in a relevant field or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses
Experience: One (1) or more years of post-graduate professional experience in project management, implementation, food security, livelihood, education, or similar programs.
