Вакансія: Renewable energy expert Policy advice on low-carbon policies for Ukraine

We are looking for an economic analyst for energy and climate policy issues within the project “Low Carbon Ukraine” (LCU). The position is part of our Kyiv-based local support group. This job offer is effective from March 1st, 2020. Contract duration is 16 months.
About Berlin Economics and the LCU project:
Berlin Economics is an independent consulting company that advises its clients from politics and business on economic issues. The focus is on transition countries in Eastern Europe. The public sector is advised by us in a variety of policy areas. Our main objective is to promote sustainable economic development by building efficient institutional frameworks.
In our current project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) within the framework of the International Climate Initiative (IKI), we advise the Ukrainian government on strategies and policies for achieving a low-emission development path. The task covers both strategic and very detailed operational issues at the interface of energy and climate policy. The project started in September 2018 and will last until August 2021.
Your responsibilities:
- Collaboration on policy advice papers and presentations
- Research on renewable energy, power grid flexibility policies and other related topics
- Collection, processing and analysis of economic and market data
- Preparation of deliverables, in form of policy briefings, presentations etc
Your qualification and skills:
- a university degree in economics/finance/energy engineering/public policy;
- experience in energy sector/policy advice in energy field – at least 2 year;
- interest in climate policies, sustainable energy and renewables
- fluent English, both written and spoken;
- technical strengths in quantitative economic methods and software;
- proficiency in MS Office package, Excel is a must;
- knowledge in programming (R, Python) is advantageous.
We expect the candidates to work on a high professional level and to possess a high degree of reliability, accuracy and discretion. Only candidates with Ukrainian citizenship can be considered.
