The Program / Department Summary
Mercy Corps has been responding to the emergency in Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war in February 2022. We are providing emergency cash assistance to refugees in neighboring countries and people displaced inside Ukraine so they can meet their basic survival needs. We also fund local organizations that know their community best and are working quickly to address their most urgent needs.
The Position
The Warehouse Assistant is responsible to assist with all warehouse functions including receiving, storing and issuing program materials.
Essential Responsibilities
- Follow the Mercy Corps Field Warehouse Management Policy.
- Has a full understanding of Mercy Corps warehouse policies and formats. Assists, as needed in training staff on these policies and forms.
- Maintain the warehouse inventory and prepare the reports on a monthly basis.
- Receive the goods as per the description on the purchase order/request. Inspects goods upon delivery and rejects inadequate, broken, lower quality and other items not meeting the requirements of the order.
- Dispatch goods from the warehouse using appropriate Mercy Corps procedures, Store Release forms, Waybills and update Stock Records.
- Prepare a report of monthly stocks, end of grant stocks, fiscal year physical counts and other physical counts, as instructed by the supervisor.
- Display bin cards on each item in the warehouse.
- Maintain physical and electronic copies of inventory, as per formats and forms provided in the Warehouse Manual.
- Generate the commodities movement way bills and gate passes.
- Ensure an independent monthly stock count is conducted and recorded.
- Conduct themself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.

Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders
Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.
Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills
- 2 years minimum of relevant experience
- Responsible, trustworthy, punctual, hardworking and clean.
- A working knowledge of English is desired.
- Must have initiative and work largely unsupervised.
Success Factors
The successful Warehouse Assistant will assist logistics and warehousing tasks in delivering successful programs while demonstrating excellent stewardship of donor funds and compliance with Mercy Corps and donor regulations. They will maintain strong cooperative relationships with other departments and interact effectively with international and national personnel both in a managerial and training capacity while demonstrating the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and process information in support of changing program activities. The most successful Mercy Corps staff members have a solid commitment to teamwork and accountability, thrive in evolving and changing environments and make effective written and verbal communication a priority in all situations.
