Project Summary:
The Support to Anti-Corruption Champion Institutions (SACCI) Program in Ukraine is a five-year USAID initiative that has an objective to assist Ukraine to reduce corruption and increase the accountability and transparency of governance in Ukraine. The program seeks to empower key government institutions to fight corruption, build public support for and engagement in anticorruption effort, and reduce citizen tolerance to corruption.

Position Summary:
MSI is seeking for a short-term consultant to assist SACCI in packaging intended project contributions to a civic education textbook with regard to anti-corruption component for high-school students in Ukraine into contemporary educational formats and standards as per Ministry of Education of Ukraine. The consultant will work closely with the SACCI program team. This task does not require trips regions of Ukraine and may be performed at-a-distance in close contact with the SACCI team. The assignment is expected to start immediately upon selection of the candidate (i.e. in November 2017). The total number of expert days will not exceed 20 days.
Responsibilities:
In consultations with the SACCI team the civic education expert will:
- Advise the SACCI team on the proposed case studies on corruption-related topics to be suggested for inclusion into the civic education textbook and help select the appropriate / most engaging ones
- Package the selected case studies and other educational materials (theoretical materials, suggested further reading elements) in the suggested textbook format in accordance with the standards / recommendations set forth by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine
- Provide expert feedback on the suggested additional materials for the online version of the textbook
- Provide the SACCI team with a set of recommendations regarding further engagement in the anti-corruption civic education activities in line with standards / recommendations set forth by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine
Qualifications:
- Specialist/Master’s degree in Pedagogy
- Proven experience in creation, editing and publishing of teaching materials for secondary schools
- Experience in development of teaching materials on corruption-related issues
- Good command of the literary language, substantial experience in writing articles, editing and proofreading
- Skills and experience of data visualization
- Excellent organizational skills to meet deadlines
- Prior experience with USAID-funded or other international donor projects is preferred
- Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian required. English language knowledge is an asset
