Financial Officer, IFES Ukraine
Project Description
IFES is a non-profit, non-partisan international organization. As the global leader in democracy promotion, IFES advances good governance and democratic rights by providing technical assistance to election officials; empowering the underrepresented to participate in the political process; and applying field-based research to improve the electoral cycle. Since 1987, IFES has worked in over 135 countries, from developing democracies to mature democracies.
Since 1994, IFES has played a significant role in promoting electoral, administrative and legal reform in Ukraine. In cooperation with partners in Ukrainian civil society and the Central Election Commission (CEC), IFES is working to foster dialogue on electoral reform, build the capacity of local NGOs, institutionalize best practices in training election officials and ensure more equal representation in the electoral process for disadvantaged populations, especially women and persons with disabilities.
IFES is seeking qualified applicants for Financial Officer position. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), temporary position that will begin on November 1, 2015.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage IFES Ukraine’s field office finance
- Maintain office accounting, including funding request, bank account reconciliation, local staff payroll, petty cash accounts, expense reports, vendor payments and other financial issues;
- Enter daily accounting transaction into Quickbook;
- Conduct financial tracking, including maintenance and organization of receipts and invoices;
- Ensure accurate and secure money handling procedures, including back account;
- Prepare bi-monthly financial field expense reports according to company procedures;
- Coordinate with IFES HQ to prepare USAID financial reports and accruals;
- Perform other tasks upon request by the Chief of Party.
Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in relevant area;
- Be registered as a private entrepreneur with the relevant KVED
- Good knowledge of both Ukrainian and USAID financial provisions and requirement;
- A quick learner with capacity to work well with minimal supervision;
- Strong time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure;
- Excellent verbal and written English, Ukrainian and Russian skills are required; and
- Excellent interpersonal/representational skills.
- Working experience in international assistance program will be a plus.
The position is for five months (with a one-month probation period) with the possibility to extend upon excellent performance.
