ABOUT UNITED VOICES IN ACTION (VIA) PROGRAM:  

The goal of the CSO-funded United Voices in Action (VIA) program activity is to advance Ukraine’s stabilization by fostering IDP integration, increasing community cohesion, contributing to local and national integration plans, and reducing IDP vulnerability to exploitation. IREX supports IDP and receiving community members from up to 27 communities in nine oblasts in building social cohesion and improving advocacy.   Based on a conflict sensitive and inclusive development approach, the VIA program will make local community members – both IDPs and non-IDPs – the drivers of change in their communities, leading to increased stabilization and mutual understanding through the development of a shared vision of a future where multiple perspectives are heard, and marginalized voices are elevated.    

POSITION SUMMARY:  

The United Voices in Action (VIA) program, implemented by IREX, is looking for a Communications Specialist.  The Communications Specialist will conduct and coordinate project communication activities and will ensure that project staff and partners understand and implement the project communications strategy and adhere to communications guidelines. The Communications Specialist to support the program through the following tasks and responsibilities:   

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:  

  • Lead the design and delivery of the program communications strategy;  
  • Develop content supporting program outreach through digital and multimedia platforms;  
  • Engage with partners to support their communications efforts as well as contributions to overall project outreach strategy;  
  • Provide required communications inputs to project reporting;  
  • Develop a project Communication Plan and a Content Plan for VIA’s social media accounts, focused on the interests and needs of people under the age of 18 and 35+;  
  • Prepare social media content, program announcements, and press releases; 
  • Prepare visual elements, including photos, illustrations, videos, and infographics for social media, traditional media, and internal content. If necessary, cooperate with a graphic designer; 
  • Collaborate with the VIA program team to prepare, edit, and proofread social media content and provide recommendations and support for social media use, including for any technical issues;  
  • Communicate with program participants through established chats, such as Telegram; 
  • Engage regularly with audiences on social media, including responding to messages, comments and reviews, attracting new followers, and collaborating with other organizations and programs; 
  • Analyze the effectiveness of the content plan and provide recommendations for adapting the plan, if needed; 
  • Create and manage promotional campaigns on social media;  
  • Support communications for VIA program events, including disseminating media invitations to public events; 
  • Monitor media coverage of VIA program events and activities; 
  • Prepare or draft success stories about program activities based on the VIA Program Manager’s request; 
  • Other duties as assigned.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • At least three years of work experience managing social media platforms. Experience with journalism or blogging is preferred 
  • Good knowledge of English 
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Telegram 
  • Experience writing content and effectively engaging existing followers and attracting new followers 
  • Demonstrated professional experience working with Canva or a similar design platform 
  • Experience with targeted advertising campaigns on various social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram  
  • Demonstrated experience providing communications and media support to events 
  • Ability to generate creative ideas 
  • Strong attention to detail, responsibility, high level of media literacy, and aesthetic taste 
  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, journalism, public relations, communications, or related field preferred  
  • Experience working with international donor-funded projects preferred
