POSITION SUMMARY:
Program Officer will work at IREX office in Ukraine on Project Learn to Discern. Program Officer will work under the supervision of the Senior Program Manager and support day to day program activities. The position is based in Kyiv with some travel to target regions within the country. This position is contingent upon funding.
General Duties & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize work related to organization of program meetings and events (trainings, workshops, working group meetings, conferences, etc.).
- Hold active communication between Project staff, partner organizations, experts, trainers, regional coordinators, ministries, and key stakeholders of the Project.
- Support the development, writing, improvement and finalization of educational materials developed by experts.
- Coordinate the work of experts and other contractors responsible for development of the materials.
- Organize working groups’ meetings, brainstorm sessions, creative workshops and other activities related to the development of educational materials.
- Lead the procurement processes and preparation of contracts, vendor and consultant agreements needed for the project implementation.
- Lead Regional Coordinators’ working groups to ensure they perform tasks successfully. Working groups include but not limited to such topics: gathering of success stories from teachers, organizing bi-weekly newsletter, organizing competitions for students and teachers.
- Communication with suppliers and other subcontractors. Draft program-related documents, reports, and successful stories.
- Management of program documents, financial forms, and payments. Coordinate activities related to logistics/arrangements, monitoring and evaluation activities, data collection, and reporting.
- Draft program-related documents, reports, and success stories.
- Provide Web-based research assistance for projects and publications.
- Supervise work of Program Assistant.
- Serve as an interpreter if needed. Translate program-related documents (English, Russian, and Ukrainian) when needed.
- Travel to regions to attend program events and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- University degree – minimum bachelor level.
- At least three years of prior experience of work in similar educational Projects is welcomed.
- Experience with media literacy projects is a strong advantage.
- Experience in NGO sector and projects will be an asset.
- Minimum of two years of experience in the development of educational and training materials.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and complete tasks in accordance with stated deadlines.
- Interest in media literacy, critical thinking and basic knowledge in this field is needed.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of Web 2.0 tools is a plus.
- Strong command of spoken/written English, Ukrainian and Russian.
- Ability to travel.
