The Frankfurt Zoological Society aims to improve the effective protection of these pristine wilderness areas through the direct support and expansion of protected areas in the Carpathian region. In order to establish and manage the financial accounting procedures of its Ukrainian subsidiary, FZS seeks to employ a Finance and Accounting Officer (m/f/d). The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and based in Lviv.
MAIN TASK AND DUTIES
The Finance and Accounting Officer is responsible for handling and overseeing all financial affairs of the Ukraine branch including, but not limited to, the following:
- Establishment of all financial and bookkeeping procedures for the Ukraine branch in line with Ukrainian legal requirements and FZS head office regulations and procedures
- Overall financial management and formal reporting in line with Ukrainian legal requirements
- Preparation and facilitation of annual accounts and external audits
- Controlling of project accounts and budgets
- Assistance with the preparation of internal financial reports
- Assistance with any financial reports required by donors
- Oversee the legal and financial correctness of agreements concluded with suppliers (establishment of contracts and related documents)
- Processing of payments to contractors and suppliers
- Financial documentation and archiving
- Day-to-day bookkeeping according to the national legal requirements of Ukraine
- Integration of financial data / postings into the FZS financial accounting and controlling system Abacus Projects (training will be provided)
- Regular reporting to the Ukrainian tax authorities
- Management of external tax, bookkeeping and HR service providers
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Education in business administration, economics, finance, accounting or other related fields, with a specialisation in accounting
- More than five years working experience in an international context in the fields of accounting, financial management or related fields
- Experience with the accounting software “1C:Bukh”, the banking system “Client bank”, reporting using “Medoc” and/or “Artzvit”
- Profound knowledge of Ukrainian accounting and tax legislation as well as basic knowledge in HR matters
- Excellent MS-Excel skills and general MS-Office skills
- Experience in financial documentation and archiving
- Excellent command of the Ukrainian and English languages and preferably German in word and speech
- Good interpersonal and communications skills
- Ability and interest to work across multiple cultures with tact and diplomacy
