Open to Internal and External Candidates

Position Title: IM Assistant (Shelter/NFI) (5 positions)

Duty Station: Multiple: Uzghorod/ Vinnytsia/ Ivano-Frankivsk/ Chernivtsi/ Lviv (Ukraine)

Classification: General Service Staff, Grade G5

Type of Appointment: Special Short-Term, Six months with possibility of extension

Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context: 

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Programme Coordinator (Housing), the direct supervision of Hub Lead and in coordination with other technical programme specialists, the successful candidate will support IOMs efforts to improve living conditions of crisis affected population across Ukraine. 

The incumbent will be responsible of gathering information on programme activities and support a proper data storage and management for the shelter NFI activities, in addition to supporting with dashboards and factsheets for the Shelter NFI programming.

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

  1. Implement an integrated mechanism for data gathering and information management across all shelter NFI activities to facilitate collection of accurate and reliable data.
  2. Assist in monitoring data collection activities of the shelter NFI activities, utilizing relevant software, such as Excel, Kobo toolbox, SPSS, Power BI, GIS etc.
  3. Contribute to the overall management of a fully functional database to support the Shelter /NFI unit, the latter using software such as Excel, Kobo toolbox, SPSS, Power BI, GIS etc.
  4. Support and strengthen field assessment mechanisms through the development of standardized data collection forms and tools using Kobo/ODK. Organise and manage the data collection, input, cleaning and initial analysis of data for IOM programme units.
  5. Identify gaps in data and information relevant to the emergency response and contribute to the preparation of project proposals aiming to address such needs.
  6. Monitoring & Reporting – Maintain relevant and updated datasets, including population data, funding requirements and contributions as input in to derivative products that meet the needs. 
  7. Contribute to the strengthening of existing monitoring and reporting mechanisms with a view of improving data collection and analysis.
  8. Mapping – Develop templates, catalogues and style guides for gneneral map production. Produce Easy maps to support IOM field operations (Sub-offices and Logistic Hubs) as required. Produce maps IOM Programme Units to highlight coverage, gaps, and needs by overlaying vulnerability information.
  9. Support timely preparation and generation of information products by preparing templates in line with the IOM style guide. Generate pictorial/graphical analysis as well as PPT presentation including graphs, charts, tables and graphics/info graphics and info sheets.
  10. Support in the systematic reporting at cluster level for Shelter/NFI activities 
  11. Support the unit in creating IEC (Information, Education and Communication) materials as required. 
  12. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • High school diploma/certificate or equivalent with at least five years of relevant work experience 

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science/ Geographic Information Systems/ Graphic Design/ mathematic or relevant area from an accredited academic 

institution with at least three years of relevant professional experience 

Experience 

  • Experience in data management and use of different techniques for data visualization and monitoring 
  • Experience with photography and video editing an advantage 
  • Expertise of ESRI ArcGIS and other GIS-related software is an advantage;
  • Knowledge of data protection guidelines and principles;
  • Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility and drive for results.
  • Experience working with a non-governmental organization and/or international organization is an advantage.
  • Advanced level of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator / Id-Design / Photoshop /PoweBI, GIS/ Kobo toolbox/ SPSS or other graphics software
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
  • Capable of working under stressful conditions.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to field locations and work in insecure and hardship environment

Languages

Fluency in English, Ukrainian is required.

A prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station and work permit, as applicable.
