ABOUT WFP
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the largest humanitarian organisation delivering food assistance to over 90 million beneficiaries in 80 countries on a yearly basis. With over 5000 trucks, 50 ships and close to 100 planes on the move every single day, WFP, together with its partners, operates a global network to deliver life-saving food assistance to the most hard-to reach places.
COUNTRY CONTEXT
After receiving an official request for assistance from the Government of Ukraine, the World Food Programme (WFP) is launching an emergency operation to provide food assistance for people fleeing the conflict both within the country and in neighbouring ones.
WFP is scaling up to reach 6 million people in next 3 months through cash-based transfers as well as food distributions. WFP is also providing assistance to displaced Ukrainians in refugee hosting countries. It is estimated that over 5 million Ukrainians have already fled the country and sought refuge in neighboring countries since the beginning of the conflict.
