Wars and armed conflicts come to an end; however, the remnants of war continue to impact millions of people for decades to follow. Mine Action and Disarmament’s vision is a world where people and communities are safe, resilient and protected before, during and after armed conflict. Together with national authorities and other stakeholders, we are working to resolve problems faced by local communities caused by landmines and explosive remnants of war. Currently, NPA has more than 20 Mine Action Programmes ongoing in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Balkans and the Middle East

NPA is opening a Mine Action and Disarmament programme with the aim of protecting civilians from the threats posed by explosive ordnance (EO) in Ukraine. NPA is planning to assist displaced and non-displaced civilians with humanitarian activities such as: explosive ordnance Risk Education, Conflict Preparedness and Protection and mines and EO clearance, as well as capacity development projects. NPA’s country office is currently in Kyiv with other country bases to be open in the near future.
In this position your main responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:
- Ensure adherence to NPA and donor policies, guidelines and procedures in addition to adherence to relevant national and local legislation especially local tax law and tax reporting.
- Participate in the planning and budget process and other financial analysis with Finance, Logistic and Programme Managers.
- In close collaboration with Finance, Logistic and Programme Managers ensure funds are spent in accordance with the approved donor budget.
- Prepare note for justification of reversals/corrections posting with prior approval from PM and in line with the authorization table.
- Be responsible to prepare bank, cheque and cash payments. Keep cheque books and signed cheques in a secure lock cabinet at all times.
- Assist Finance Manager in coordination with NPA bank(s) in the country and ensure timely receiving of bank statements.
To be succesfull in this role you must have:
- University degree/diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field (preferably in accounting).
- Fluent English language skills – both written and spoken.
- Computer and Microsoft software skills, including strong skills in accounting software.
- Minimum two years of experience in role relevant to accounting/financial management, preferably (but not exclusively) in the humanitarian sector.
- Experience with accounting systems, payroll preparations and payments is desirable.
The following personal qualifications are required:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Systematic and organised in approach, including accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail, tenacity, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work calmly under pressure with limited supervision.
