In Ukraine, AVSI implements humanitarian activities such as Food and Non-food items distributions, Education, Child Protection and Protection sector.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Role: The organisation is now seeking to recruit 2 suitable qualified staff for the position of Field Officer (1 in Sumy and 1 in Kharkiv)
  • Department: Programme
  • Duty Station: 1 in Sumy and 1 in Kharkiv (with transfers in the respective oblast)
  • Remuneration Package: Basic Pay + Monthly Health Benefit (net range 500-650 USD)

Aim of the position: Under the supervision of the Project Manager, to contribute to the implementation of Education and Protection activities targeting displaced persons and host communities.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Coordination of the field activities in the reference area;
  • Coordination on 50 volunteers and teachers carrying out recreational activities with children and parents;
  • Coordination of the distribution of educational kits for children;
  • Coordination of PSS activities with children and parents;
  • Monitoring of the rehabilitation of some schools and shelters in collaboration with local authorities;
  • Ensures that the project activities on the ground are carried out and guarantees their quality;
  • Ensures that project beneficiaries are treated adequately by all staff on site;
  • Coordinates the staff in the reference area and ensures the correct execution of the work carried out by them;
  • Coordination with the Logistics officer and support in the activities of procurement;
  • Supports monitoring and evaluation activities;
  • Maintains relations with local authorities and stakeholders in the reference area;
  • Report on the state and any problems that arise during the performance of the activities;
  • Carrying out all other project related tasks requested by the Project Manager.

Essential requirements

  • Qualification: High school diploma
  • Knowledge of foreign languages: Excellent knowledge of English and Ukrainian (spoken and written)
  • Work experience in the field of professional competence: At least 2 years of experience in coordinating educational activities; in emergence or development.

Preferable requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in subjects related to the position
  • Previous experience with international NGOs
  • Any training in coordination, distribution of basic goods, education or PSS
  • Excellent organizational skill functional to perform under minimal supervision
  • Aptitude to field work with ability to travel with short notice
  • Knowledge of humanitarian standards
  • Ability to carry out community assessment with standardized and non-standardized instruments, with particular attention to the ability to carry out adequate assessment of the context and needs of affected communities
  • Proactive person willing to take initiative
  • Flexibility 
  • Team-working skills and provide support to multiple staffs
  • Able to work under pressure and under strict deadlines
  • Identify him/herself with the mission, vision and values of AVSI Foundation
  • High planning and problem-solving skills
