MAG in Ukraine: Currently, MAG is starting a Humanitarian Mine Action programme putting its experience at service of Ukraine and implementing activities such as: EORE – Explosive Ordnance Risk Education, NTS – Non-technical survey, EOD – Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Clearance. Whilst registration and certification process is ongoing, MAG will launch Community Liaison activities through local partners with extensive experience in country and continue building close coordination with other actors, key partners, and national authorities in country.
Job Purpose:
The Finance Officer is responsible for assisting the Head of Support Services with all financial matters related to the MAG Ukraine programme
Job Description
Payroll
- Collect timesheets and in coordination with the HR Officer, input any salary changes such as sick leave, unpaid leave etc
- Ensure accuracy of the data entered into payroll records to ensure all national staff salaries are paid correctly.
- Conduct all data processing, including data entry, producing payslips, reports etc.
- Assist the Finance Manager in ensuring MAG complies with all statutory payments requirements and deductions
- Process and/or review the accurate and timely processing submission of payments (e.g. travel claims, pension fund, advances to governments etc), journal entries and other financial transactions
Accounting
- Assist the Finance Manager with accounting, budgeting and all other financial/accounting activities as directed
- Review and process payment requests, ensuring accuracy and adherence to policy
- Ensure all regular payments are made
- Maintain cash balance in the office safe, including conducting daily cash count, reporting any discrepancies to the Finance Manager immediately
- Update the cashbook on a daily basis with transactions and advances issued.
- Support the Finance Manager to prepare monthly financial reports or others as required
- Prepare bank reconciliation for all MAG accounts
- Assist in the monitoring of budgets and project spends
- Ensure accurate and complete accounting and that relevant records are maintained
- Assist Finance Manager in complying with MAG HQ Finance policies, procedures and regulations
Person Specification
Essential Experience
- Previous professional experience working in a financial role, ideally for an NGO
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in budget / financial management, accounting, controlling or audits in an international organization and/or large corporation is required.
- Experience processing payroll and management of cash flow
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of databases, MS Access, Excel, Word etс
- Good written and spoken English and Ukrainian is mandatory
Qualifications
- An advanced university degree (Master’s) in financial management related fields such as Budget Management, Accountancy or Finance or their equivalent, is required.
- A certification in CIPFA or its equivalent or a valid professional certification (CA; CPA; etc.) from an internationally recognized or accredited chartered accountancy institution is an advantage
