Junior Environmental Policy, Resources Efficiency Specialist (full-time, Kyiv)

The technical cooperation project “Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Implementation of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive (FEER), implemented by the GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in cooperation with State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland is on the lookout for a technical adviser to support the preparation, implementation and supervision of demonstration projects in the field of energy efficiency in buildings and to support the coordination and communication with partner municipalities (Output 2 EE in Municipalities). This component is aimed at the lowering of primary energy consumption in partner communities through implementation of specific energy efficiency measures in public facilities (Demonstration Projects).

Tasks:

  • Assists with planning, coordinating and documenting meetings, workshops, seminars and other project activities with a focus on technical aspects.
  • Assists the preparation and the implementation of assignments by short-term experts in completing their tasks (i.e. drafting of ToR, preparing other necessary documents, logistical and organisational support, etc.).
  • Assists with recording and documenting the results of all activities in the component / project.
  • Ensures daily flow of internal and external correspondence (drafting letters and their registration, pre-check of adherence to visibility standards); takes notes and contributes to reports.
  • Supports project monitoring and updates information on project progress, documents and reports regularly on the status of results.
  • Draws up media analyses, participates in fora and public hearings on issues directly connected with the project.
  • Orders and distributes PR materials on the project as well as GIZ PR materials.
  • Assists with PR work for the project.
  • In consultation with the manager or expert, prepares and carries out qualitative research projects (developing survey instruments, field trials, training field staff, organisational preparation in the field, collecting and analysing data).
  • Assists in drawing up reports and translations.
  • Supports the maintenance of a project database.
  • Assists in communicating, updating and collecting information on MS-Teams and other services.
  • Prepares presentation materials with infographics based on the results of the project, develops concepts for videos and printed materials.
  • Organises and updates project documentation, the filing systems and the project library.
  • Assists in developing and implementing instruments of knowledge-exchange and awareness raising among stakeholders.
  • Supports the development of information materials.
  • Moderates workshops and seminars together with external experts and consultants.
  • Contributes to achieving the overall project goals by independently coordinating the proper preparation and organization of conferences, workshops, meetings and other online and offline events.
  • Supports the component manager and project director in organizational matters, e.g. in operational planning and other coordination sessions of the team.
  • Supports in maintaining excellent professional relations with partners and stakeholders.

Qualification requirements:

  • BA/MSc in a field related to the project’s objectives, international relations or communication.
  • Good knowledge of national and international business communication and networking.
  • Practice and understanding of event management.
  • Work experience in similar position.
  • Experience in interviewing, collecting data, conducting surveys, conducting applied research.
  • Experience in event management, organization of conferences and workshops.
  • Outstanding working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office, MS Teams, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Very good level of Ukrainian and at least B2 level of English language knowledge.willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
  • Strong self-organisation skills and goal orientation combined with a high level of frustration tolerance.

Employment

Full-time position with 40-hours working week. Contract duration is till June 2025.
